I noticed the other day riding home that my front caliper was moving in and out,,,bugger bent disc.It didn’t affect the breaking though ? Anyway new disc I figered,so i do the ring around and looked on E bay,and came up with $139. from R&D huski,$98 fome Trooperlu, and $60 pluss freight on Ebay.
Just when I’m up for a couple of new tyres n some grips as well,Bugger It,I’ll see if I can straight’n it out.
Got the weel and the disc of and layed it on the bench,I could see the bend right away,a couple of blows with the malet,,bingo looks straight,I gave it a spin on the axle, looks good.
I put the weel back on the bike and gave it a good spin,,just a slight buckle, gave it another wack with the malet,Hey presto, straight disc
Happy days.
I’v just got one question,,,,What dose that little studd on the disc held on by a ser clip do????Cheers Teza,

February 11, 2014 at 7:14 am #254077From my experience once they have been bent or have warped no matter how well you straighten it, the first time it heats up it goes back to its bent state.
February 11, 2014 at 9:12 am #254078Hey Tezza
Sorry, but I think it will never be straight again, and neither will I??
See how you go but in the past I have just sucked it in and bought a newy.
Just imagine the amount of times the wheel goes around, now imagine if that the disc is slightly out of whack. That poor little slave cylinder and pads will be getting a workout they were never designed for.
See how ya go.
You may end up going through too many pads!!??
Good luck with what ever you do.
Cheers
MurphFebruary 11, 2014 at 9:14 am #254075O well, give it a lash any way,I recon if it took a bash to bend it in the first place, and a bash to put it back, should be all good.got nothin to loose. Thanks.
Speedo sensor,ARRRRRH! Thanks for that Iva.
Cheers Teza.
February 11, 2014 at 9:26 am #254085I straightened a disk after a wombat headbutted it. Never the sane again. Grab a new one mate. Brakes are handy things to rely on .
February 12, 2014 at 3:25 am #254087I’ve straightened rear discs plenty of times. Sure they are never super true again but never stopped me from riding.
February 13, 2014 at 7:26 am #254094I straightened one once on my XR600, used a dial indicator the whole nine yards it was perfect
I was so proud of my effort
Two weeks later,
Condo 750 130 odd km/h end of a fence line hard on the brakes and the disc went BOOM bent like it was before I straightened it, worse actually. It was so bad I could hardly focus when I was braking   Oh and the lever pulsed to the point I thought it was going to break something on the master cylinder or my hand
New disc I reckon Tez sorry mate

February 14, 2014 at 3:46 am #254076Jees That sounds a bit sus TB:( Well I went for a good ride today about 70k’s,20 of that is tar the rest rocks, singles, bit of open trail.I gave the disk a fair work out,,,but I dont go as hard as most of you lot  But I did charge hard into a couple of corners on the way home, break felt positive, disc is still straight, the funny thing is I didn’t get any feed back on the leaver when it was bent, just noticed the caliper going in and out.Any way I keep an eye on it and if it dose bend back in the bush,I’l belt it back into shape with a big stick to get home
Thanks for yu input.
Cheers teza.February 14, 2014 at 5:11 am #254129I straightened my rear disc once before and have had no trouble with it since. But I am in the same boat as Tezza and don’t usually get my rear brake too hot.
