Mine have probably seen all up ten rides now (give or take a few) and I have now got cracks, a lock cam has ripped off, the inside of my left boot has blown out and on top of it all they leak like sieves.I emailed the importer and told them of the problems that I have had, but they have still not replied. That was around a month ago now.
Next time I’m going old school all leather boots and giving the leather – plastic ones a miss.
Hey Dan, what did the boots originally cost you?
Chris
$200 from Kawasaki Newcastle. I know the old thing of that you get what you pay for, but $200 is still $200 and a sort of expected a bit more wear for the $.
December 27, 2008 at 10:58 pm #116012I suppose the old saying stands true, you get what you pay for. But still a pair of $300.00 boots should last more than a couple of rides and a $600.00 pair of boots should last a lot longer. The importers really need to collect the feedback and give back to the Manufacturer that’s where the issues can be resolved.
Cheers

Obviously worth spending the extra coin if you can get life like that.
Do you pay any special attention to your boots to get them to last that long or is it more that the Alpine Stars are just that much better?
Dan I only sponge off the dirt never pressure wash, I never hose inside the boots, they are always aired out with the inner booties removed and the inner booties get washed every second week, souls get replaced around the 3000-5000 km mark, uppers last great, steel caps gone within 4000-5000 km but you can get replacements and if you use black sikaflex to stick them on as well as nails supplied they wont go anywhere for the life of your boots ,
Did you not see the teasing I gave you earlier my blue friend….Hari christna LOL
December 27, 2008 at 11:03 pm #116015Sikaflex, need to get me some of that! My Toe caps keep coming loose, the more I tighten them the more they loosen.

December 27, 2008 at 11:25 pm #115993You cant go past alpine stars hey. dont no how many k’s mine have done but have had them for 5 years no dramas! just give em a hose out and wipe em over with a bit of saddle greese they cost me $470 if memory serves me good
January 8, 2009 at 10:42 am #116020I have a set of oxtars boots, both dirt and road. The dirt boots have inner booties and have only ever been pressure washed, never have they bee treated with a single thing, the inners are washed every single ride.
These are the best boots I have ever owned, I used to wear only Apline stars and had one pair for 8 years, I ride a hell of a lot and a lot of big long rides, not always half days every second month.
Oneal are bottom entry gear, or thats how I have heard it called by a couple of people in the trade, ya get what you pay for, Scott at Battye’s put me on the oxtars in 2005 and are the best money spent I think they cost about $450 but that was discounted bu Scott at the time.
The hard thing with new boots on the market now is a lot are motocross boots and have no tread on the bottom, OK on a motocross track, but no good when pushing your KTM up a wet slippery hill going on dark Sunday night.
My 2 cents worth

AnonymousI have had an email from the new importer of the Berik brand. They want me to send some photos of the crap product. I will keep you all posted of the results. I am hoping for a new pair of boots:laugh: or at least these ones repaired.

AnonymousAt least it’s a start Dan, hopefully you get something. If their first response is anything to go by you might be too old to ride by the time you get new boots out of them.
For what it’s worth I run the 661 boots and they have been great. They keep the water out very well, are comfortabel and I have no issues with tearing, stitching or dodgy buckles. I have never done anything to them other than point a hose at them once or twice to get the real thick mud off.
The best thing about them though is that they help make me look like a stormtrooper which is really cool

AnonymousUpdate on my progress with getting my crap Beriks fixed or replaced.
The now importer of Berik boots – Ficeda Accessories has agreed to replace my boots even though they did not originally import these ones. The reason that it took so long for them to reply is that the bloke that was looking after my enquiry took my case and photo’s to Berik and it took them a bit to respond. I did however send an email to Fieceda and threatened to take my case to the Department of Fair Trading if I hadn’t had a response within 7 days (whether that helped or not I don’t know).
The importer has offered to replace and upgrade my current boots to either a pair of Berik OVS Pro boots or AXO Prime boots. I have opted to get the AXO’s as once bitten twice shy with Berik. Either way it is a good result considering that both pairs retail for over $450. All I have to do is send my old boots to them.
So I give top marks to Ficeda Accessories and in partically David Maddock for his excellent customer service.
I can’t say that I would recommend Berik boots, given my current experience.
But I have no problems with recommending Fieceda Accessories, given the service and outcome that I have recieved and the fact that they didn’t even import the crap boots that I have but still acted on getting a result.

AnonymousGot my new AXO’s today. WooHoo what a top pair of boots (so far) super comfortable. Just have to wait for the weather to cool down and go and try them.
February 3, 2009 at 9:55 am #120536Hey Dan, that’s great news, good to see you followed it up all the way and got the result in the end.
Cheers
