Hey all,
My brother is going to be in the market for a 2 smoker in the next few months and was wondering which 2 smokers he should be looking to test ride first.
He will want it to do trail riding plus open track style of work like these bike parks.
Yes he does have the abbilty to ride thats for sure. (he wants something to rip his arms off to LOL)

Yes ADR blue.
what about the husaberg 300te? he is looking more 300+ cc
April 17, 2011 at 4:47 pm #199651Ive had a couple of rides on the new gasgas electric start and they are fantastic. If you dont believe me have a look at Ivan Cervantes on Youtube (WEC 2011). Great handling and very reliable bike. Its like a trials bike in the slow technical stuff. They will also climb anything. The best part is the electric start.
whats really good is its not a Husky.

Blue KTM?
GasGas is better overall bike, he does know the 250s as a rule are faster bikes?April 17, 2011 at 5:46 pm #199648My 2 cents worth Corey.
KTM/Berg – good bike, good resale (KTM), adjustable motor (springs and map switch), KTM headshake
Gas Gas – Excellent bike, great motor (with map switch), low COG, turns real nice. Can buy high compression head with 3 inserts to rip body in half. I have the first stage insert and it scares the shit out of me.
TM – Not riden one. Looks horn, has all the good gear, has torque controller and map switch I believe.
Husky – Cheap to buy, dear to own, motor has heaps of torque but doesn’t rev out, can be jettd to rip your arms off but out of the shop is quite tame. They still have 2007 frame (different to the 250). Hard to sell as well.
I’d suggest looking at the KTM, Berg and Gasser. They seem to be the top three players ATM.
Blue is correct in saying the 250s are quicker. You can rider harder for longer but are harder to do 4th gear wheelies on. I think the 300s are more fun to ride.
Good luck and tell your bro to ride as many brands as he can and for a good ride too not just down the tar and back.
April 17, 2011 at 6:44 pm #199649KTM/Berg yes Berg has the better twin chamber forks
GasGas yes
Husky no no
After racing yesterday with Mal on his Gas Gas I was very impressed, that bike just hooks up out of corners and is so smooth on the trail and it turns heads big time Mal even had a Pro asking all about itIf your brother wants a bike to rip his arms out what about the new Maico 700, it might be able to do that.
April 17, 2011 at 9:16 pm #199656I dont know much about 2 strokers but I just spent 3 days riding with a husa 300 and a ktm 300,the ktm boiled its ass off at the first sign of a hill so not much good for around here.
evApril 17, 2011 at 11:59 pm #199678ktm200 nice bike gets into band real fast and handles sweet compared to the ktm 250 and 300 found them a bit doggy of the bottem and gappy in the gears fell in and out of band all the time (they may have fixed this with the six speed box in the 011 models)compared to my 530 ps the ktms are euro trash so boil in australian conditions all the time as bello said well mine does anyway.if you could register a cr250 two stroke i would get one of those but are carnt :pinch:the tms crack prefered the 250 the 300 had to much power for me there a bit slow in the steering but very nice.found the gas gas ergos are for short people but you must be able to change them mal rides one and the moter tamer than the others but as mal said can be hotted up .they have sweet steering but for single track .just my opionion was looking for another bike so rode a few but stuck with the old girl

Kato 300s are all round KA. You stop them boiling by having the proper 0.8 rad cap and fatter jetting.
