August 31, 2012 at 8:34 am #228662I seen spray paint sprayed into the grip used the other day???? never used it but i supose it would work. I use shoe goo and tie wire
August 31, 2012 at 8:39 am #228663Bike shops sell grip glue not those thieving pricks at westerns but Suttos or the likes. I use it or spray paint grip glue is better and the way to remove it is you warm the grip with a heat gun or hair dryer. Don’t use the glue Suzuki fit their grips on the DRs with but it’s wicked stuff (don’t think you can buy it anyway  )
Petrol is popular but I have experienced the rubber swelling. Always wire if you ride in the rain or mudTB
August 31, 2012 at 9:23 am #228664I would say don’t glue them, just wire them.
That’s all I do, never had a problem.PTW
August 31, 2012 at 9:29 am #228670I use spray paint. A bit on the bars and a bit in the grip and slide on then tie wire as well. Haven’t had one move yet and I hang on to the bike pretty well.

LeftAugust 31, 2012 at 10:17 am #228665I use petrol. Just a teaspoon in and swill it around and tip it out then slide it on. Never had a problem.
August 31, 2012 at 10:27 am #228666Thanks guys,
Will try the spray on stuff and see how that goes…i have always just tie wired them on but i want something a little extra for those extreme moments lol :woohoo:August 31, 2012 at 11:51 am #228676Hair spray and tie wire
Go to woolies and get the super heavy duty extra strong type that if used on the old beahive hair dos would act as a hard hat if a steel beam landed on it.
After all, hair spray is just and adhesive
Spray on bar, spray inside grip, slips on easy

September 4, 2012 at 5:26 am #228902Petrol and tie wire. Just cut them off, why would you do anything else?
September 4, 2012 at 8:12 am #228904September 5, 2012 at 1:38 am #228912i used to use the Scott grip glue (rubbery stuff like contact adhesive) but found once it got wet, it let go.
now i have some Pro taper stuff (much more like supa glue) and it works great.
we have had our wettest winter in years and they are still on as tight as a nuns nasty

Yep I have found contaminated bar ends to make it hard for the grip to stay put. I have been known to wrap fresh duct tape around the bar and then use the paint/petrol/wire tricks. I’ve seen someone on the trails scrape the glue off duct tape with some petrol and appy that to the bars before sliding the grips back on…. wow.
