My bike is an 09 so won’t be due for inspection until 2014 – I was told that the bike didn’t come with blinkers and I don’t have any and even if it did I would’ve taken them off until needed and I still expect that I’ll ring around and tell them I’m a dirt rider only please renew without blinkers etc. Now that I’ve smashed it I’m not going to spend the $100 or whatever to put another fragile redundant one on there so in 4 years time I’ll be set up for inspection.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Is someone from here bidding on that? This is the problem with posting ebay links, you bring the item to everyone’s attention!

I Just did a search on Ebay and that one came up. Im not bidding on it

$3550  must of been one of those shitbox 4 strokes

35 years of riding with my fair share of submarine activities ive done alright, only ever destroyed a Motoplat CDI on my old 88 430 Husky at a Nulla creek Crossing

each to their own I guess. The only problem with the toggle type switch is they have an extra degree of complexity built into them, which exacerbates the reliability issues. How often have you seen someone pulling their kill switch apart in the bush when the bike wont start or run properly, usually because of water ingress?

Yeah a WR250 and was only idling when it went in :(

To answer your question Ollie I have to honestly say the only kill switchs I have ever seen give a problem has been KTM and a Husky. I hear about the KTM ones all the time and the KTM one I had play up was an old my 86 model. The Husky was a twin shock 240 and both push buttons.

You do whatever you want (or is cheap  ) AB you do whatever you want I dont care  Truely I dont :P

NFI what you’re gibbering about mate, I’m considering bidding on that one for the horn but I’ll be buying the toggle switch for the kill switch because I like the idea of it being a switch rather than button even though I expect my fine motor skills are limited to puckering up when I’m heading at a large puddle :p

I haven’t seen a post that said the switch in my opening post was no good but then it’s hard to pick through the shit sometimes :(

Thanks TB you have just destroyed everything that I have ever believed in

Just bare the wire and touch it on the hangers when you need it :P

Thank god this is not in the technical section ;)

As I said in my first post AB I have one of those switches from you first post and they work great, they are actually a copy of the genuine Honda and when Chicken smashed mine  I couldn’t get a genuine so that’s what I got 4 years ago.

You outbid me by a dollar you prick! I’ll just take my horn off and grab one of the original switches for my kill/earth.

    Thanks for the help

Wired my switch up yesterday. I retained all of the original wiring and bought a 2 pin plug from jaycar which didn’t match the tail on the ebay switch I bought so I cut that plug off and used the jaycar on both ends without a worry. I was a bit nervous about it but it was all extremely simple and it worked first go I just need to cable tie the excess wires behind the lights and the tie the kill switch wiring to the bar.

I decided I’ll put a simple rocker switch behind the headlight to turn it off if I need to but for now it’s off and will most likely stay that way.
