Bike upgrade

Ok so I know you’ve all got an opinion and I’m leaving myself wide open.
BUT!
I am considering upgradeing to a late model offroader and I like the Husky range.
SO 2 or 4 stroke and which model provides the best all round ride offroad and on?
Light is GOOD, electric start is great, for older gentlemen like myself.
The bike will get 80% dirt and 20 road.
Or perhaps the new electric start KTM300.
I do like 2 strokes I’m funny that way and I havn’t had a lot of experience with the newest 4 strokes.

2 strokes are shit on the road, I’d be looking at something 4t with 20% road use. If my options were have my penis cut off or buy a Husky it would be a tough call but I’d probably pick the 310.

i agree with you moto that 2 strokes dirtbikes arent much chop on the road but if your only goin to the corner shop or if your close to work(and i mean close) it wouldnt be real bad but i wouldnt like to be riding long or even medium distance for that matter i wouldnt do it on a 4stroke for long distances either on something thats decent for the bush on tar i have been in the past a husky fan but that was a while ago i dont go much on the later model huskys 2007 would be my cut off on the huskys anything after that motos option would be painful but i would have to think about it the 310 is still the older style base it would be the pick of them

I agree with the above regarding two strokes on road use. But if I had my heart set on a Husky I would get a 449 seen a few of them now getting ridden hard and doing the miles no fuss no problems at all. The bikes seem ok it’s the whole warranty and the price of parts I think that is giving the product a bad name.
Get rid of the importer and it would be good bike to own maybe

Go the 4t. I’ve got a 310 and It’s a great little bike. I don’t ride it on the road though.

Just don’t go 4t orange unless you have a shit load of cash to spend on it.

If not the Husky, which brand then?

2012 WR 450 there I said it. I have had a lot to do with one of theses that has done 10000 kms of what it wasn’t designed for and hasn’t missed a beat. Valves haven’t moved and aftermarket bolt bits are easy to get. Will do everything you want and is fuel injected. I am a Honda man so that opinion is as unbiased as you will get here

People take the piss out of the Yaamies weight, and I’m normally first to jump on the bandwagon, fact is though my 570 (although supposedly lighter) feels heavier to pick up and it’s what it feels like on the trail that counts, not what the stats say……..

If your 2 stroke desires are just too strong it would have to be a 300 Gas Gas I reckon. Great bike, infinitely adjustable, low seat height, light, nimble, good suspension, sexy to look at and easy to work on.

If you want to lay under it all day and Bench press it buy a 2 smoker or lighter bike
otherwise the great weight debate is all crap

Well I’ve done the research.
I’m almost decided on the Gas Gas EC300 Electric Start.
Just have to sell a couple of the oldies and save a few sheckles.

Dudes opinion Kawasaki klx 450. bit bias tho.
Go for a bargain they are all great compaired to the old school stuff.( what retiring the PE are we)
4 stroke bike seem to have more controlled power.

Excellant choice Gaz light weight reliable great spares support at a reasonable price and with a starter motor that doesnt have any real issues unlike the KTM. Power is easily tuneable to your personal preferances. The 2012’s seat is about 25mm higher than previous models although still relatively low compared to others.

The 2011’s are going for a real good price second hand low km’s. The newer 12’s have a Marzocchi CC fork and Ohlins rear. The 11’s have Sach’s fork/Shock. I believe the 13’s Standard run of the mill 300EC have a 45 Marzocchi shiver and Sach’s shock which I think is a backward step. The 300R has trick suspension but no leccy leg.
