STM they are awesome tyres for use in loamy/muddy conditions as they are very soft and have a great tread pattern. They do have a soft(ish) sidewall so be carefull if riding on rocks.

If you ride soft loamy/muddy/sandy/grassy stuff I don’t think they can be beaten. You can get an S12 for the front too which are alos great. Although I haven’t tried one the M12 (harder compound/harder terraion tyre) is commonly used on the front as it offers similar grip levels but with extended wear.

S12 front will rush you around $120 and a rear will cost around $140 (reatail). They will wear pretty quick if ridden on the road and/or hard on hard pack terrain :)

Hope this helps and sorry for the thread hijack:dry:

Hey Menace, you can lose the mirrors, nothin to see back there all the other bikes will be in front,

STM, the S12 would be perfect for your sweet, moist, muddy loam that your always bragging about…(sorry, im jealous bro)

as victoria is in its never ending drought, its pretty rare to find any of it where i ride.
its very rocky and hard packed, with some shale thrown in for good measure.
very hard on tyres. i predict about 500kms for this tyre, any more will be a bonus, as i love wheelspin!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

im prolly goin out next saturday to neerim with micks bro, Ant. ill let you know how she goes.

having said that, my mate Jay, has them F and R on his 501berg and reckons they wear great. he is a more of a sedate rider though. just as fast but smoother.:S

i have the factory metzeler 6 day extreme on the front. it is pretty good. it will get replaced when i get my next rear. as soon as the front gets rounded i like to replace them. in the past i have had S12s on the front of my KDX and they were also good. i will prolly go the S12 for the kato front next. when i had my TT350, i ran dunlop D756 fronts and they were excellent for such a heavy bike.

for your heavenly soil up there i would go anything thats soft, pointy, and has well spaced knobs.
go with what you reckon feels trusty.

the S12 cost me $99, it was on special from $129. thats why i got it

You hoon. As for tyres, stick with the S12. I got M12 on the DRZ and it can struggle at time.

tb told me to try a pirreli scorpion tyre on the back it has lasted better than last m12 back and goes around corners a lot better. the m12 used to step out bad on corners but grip heaps in a straight line and was shaged after the 3day warhope ride.this pirelli tyre done the 4day and a 7 hour ride last sunday and is still okay .but that is just my point of vew i dont think moto likes them but

I found the same with the M12. I’m not the most taxing of riders on tyres. As Whiterocket stated ok in a straight line and even on hills but unpredictable on corners especially when you get back on the gas. And again what power the DRZ has comes on pretty smooth but the M12 still seems to let go.

I think the Scorpion is a great tyre. It’s good as a hard wearing all round tyre. It was sketchy when pushed on slippery hard pack stuff and let go wiothout warning but other than that you can’t go wrong with it :)

If I was doing a 4 day and didn’t plan on changing tyres I’d put a scopion on the back for sure :)
