My husky has decided it likes to chew up a fuse on a more than regular basis. I have stripped the bike looking for a shredded wire or two, found nothing. no bulbs are shot to create an extra surge of power. The Fuse in question runs my display panel and headlight, control switches. Once i replace th efuse, all works well ( duh) Until that is i switch my headlight on.. then POP.. need a new fuse. the headlight bulb shows current runs through it properly.. and I have no wires shorting.. anyone got an Idea of what may be causing this? I be mighty thankful for any Ideas which may solve my problem..

have you replaced the light globe recently?

if it’s a higher wattage than STD. it could be drawing more current than the fuse can support.

have you tried to use a heavier fuse temporarily just to see if it lasts any longer?

about all i can think of if you’ve searched for frayed wires.

I have replaced it recently but th eissue started a fair while after. I might purchase another bulb, some more fuses and see if its the problem. I have been mulling this problem over now for a month and have learnt more about electrical wiring than i ever thought i wanted to know..

Check the lampholder for bent tabs or pins.
Then try running with the headlight on but the globe out. This will eliminate most wiring faults if it doesnt blow a fuse
Then try running in high beam only, or low beam only and see if one or the other blow the fuse. If , for example only high blows then it could be a short in your switch block or the wiring associated with high beam.
A faulty globe isn’t out of the question either, I have seen the occasional globe with an internal fault.

Good luck, let us know how you go.

rain finally stopped for a minute or two so I went to check the Fuse issue as per your Instructions. The globe is where the Problem was. Thanks for your Input mate.. valuable Information and saved me a fortune. Cant thank you enough.

I have got really involved in some jobs only to find it was a dodgy globe, it’s really easy to over look the obvious!

Glad it was a simple fix mate. ;)
