time to get regoed, having problems with my yamaha wr450 2008. the blinkers arent flashing, do they have a flasher unit on them. the rear brake light switch needs replacing but where does the the wiring for the switch plug into.( as mine has no wires left on it)

rossco33 there will be a flasher unit hiding there somewhere,i just had a quick look and theres wiring diagrams online. When you say no wires on the switch do you mean theyve torn off or there taped back up onto the harnesss through not needing them for inspections previously.

Either way your going to have to strip the plastics off and start looking at whats taped up.The brembo brake switches ive had have plug in wires so if you needing a solid wired unit you’ll be up for a new switch.

I’m in a similar situation gotta get my first inspection this year so have to put all the junk back on and see if works.

thanks mate i think ive found the flasher, might just need a small tap to get it working. the switch has had the wires torn off, but i do have a new one just wondered where it plugs in or what colour the wires are.
good luck with your bike, mine isnt to bad. but once i get em working the next challenge will be to keep em working, as im mainly riding her in the bush.

No probs,rossco33 sounds like your halfway there, was thinking the plugs are taped up around the sub frame ? just in waiting for the wire section from the switch.

Not knowing if youve owned the yami since new or previous owner has removed the gear as they didn’t need the annual inspection until it was 5years old.

Mines all there shouldn’t be a prob, the horns gone but ive never had them check it on my last bike. Sometimes if you trailer it down they don’t check anything just numbers and k’s.

Your right about keeping the gear working being a challenge, blinkers are a struggle to keep in one piece, but i always keep the tail light going at least.

Twobanger, when I had mine inspected for pink slips the boys were very reasonable, I can put you onto them if you’re local to say Penrith/Lower mountains?
