My little excf went to a happy home. Never looked back.

if they knew how you treated it they wouldnt be so happy ya bike flogger

    Haha you little…
Not true folks. I am very particular with my bikes. I trail rode “hard” but by no means tried to kill it. I got 70hrs out of rings like everyone else (well most). Have not heard a bad word from the new owner.
Spike on the other hand, rides his 250 like it’s about to blow up and never gets to experience the fun and power it has to offer. :P Rip the guts out of that muffler and get on the gas! :woohoo:

Rocket man is right, you got to rev the biatch to stay in contention.

I now ride 2 strokes again and it will take a miracle to see me own a 4st dirt bike again. WR200 and KTM300.

Since I had the head off and I’ve done about 1700kms since the last change I chose to put a new piston and ring in. I didn’t measure the end gap on the old ring but it didn’t appear damaged and the cylinder had no unusual markings so I just went with the new gear as preventitive maintenance. I thought my mechanic put a CP in last time but it turned out to be a wiseco so I’m not sure if it was high comp or not but the head certainly looks thicker/higher.

    All good fun!!!

Axel, did you ever have to replace the water pump seal? I have the rotor off and I’m trying to figure out how to remove the carrier without ripping it apart but I can’t figure it out. Any tips would be appreciated.

Water pump seal was very difficult to remove but I got it done and once back together it sounded fine and the oil looked good but it didn’t want to start. I ended up putting it in the shop and I just got a call saying that it was a dodgy spark plug connection. I checked that it was getting a spark but noted that it didn’t look great when I dropped it off but there’s no way I wouldve truly known that was the problem.

I’m riding sunday if anyone is keen! Rain, hail, shine, group or solo I’m gonna flog the guts out of the bitch!!!

    Sorry mate, missed that post.
No, have not had to, however, I may have started noticing it drinking some water on my last few ride. Very inconsistent. Started dropping below the fins maybe 300ml worth. Sometimes was fine. May have been the same problem but didn’t need to find out, luckily.

As for the spark. Be very aware of the bumblebee wire, kill switch issue with KTMs. Elec start ones have 2 kill switches. Look after both carefully. I tape the switches up prior to washing every time. Corrosion will ruin your day!
If you are experiencing any electrical fault with your bike reach straight for the bumblebee wires (black/yellow). UNplug them to bypass the kill switches. We spent hours trying to get a 300 running. We tested everything. Kill switches “appeared” to be working but a slight resistance was all it took to randomly stop spark. Man did we pull some air out.

Picked it up today and it’s firing great. The mech said it had a poor spark when he tested it and found that the point had a dodgy connection but it’s all good now. Just a shame I didn’t get it back in time for saturday! I’ll probably take it for a late night run to break it in tonight then I’ll be riding sunday if anyone is keen.

I might be keen AB post something in the rides section and we might get a crew together, I can help or even lead if it’s in the Wattos.

Good news is the bike ran great all day. Bad news is I slightly damaged the water pump seal when installing it and thought it’d be ok but evidently it wasn’t because I got a bit of white oil in the breather hose while riding which caused a brief show of smoke and then a bit in the air box after the ride. Armed with the knowledge from last attempt I’m thinking I may pull it apart and see if I can borrow the tool the pros use to remove the rubber seal if not I’ll just have to pull the clutch cover off again but that means $30 for a new clutch gasket. Based on the strongly reduced amount I’m pretty confident its not a seperate issue that I’ve missed but who knows! I’m going to spend the next month getting it spot on for selling but will continue to ride in the mean time.

Bought her some force rad guards today ready for menai’s rocky hills this saturday!

BTW I just ordered these picks so that I can do my seal again :) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350274019483&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT seemed like good value and I wont get to the hardware this week .

In case you’re wondering why I’m doing it again, I nicked the seal putting it in the first time so I’m still getting water in the oil :( Now that I know how it works I’ll just go slower this time to make sure that it stays flush the whole way in.

Once that and the spark fault are fixed its goooone!

Did you find out why there is no spark?

Haven’t had a look yet but its getting spark intermittently so I’m hoping it’s just a short and not the stator. I’ll pull it apart early next week I think.
