Since you got so exited Snowy about hearing that i was going on an ADV ride,i thought i better do a ride report just for you…and anyone else who is interested.
Now,i don’t ride road bikes and i have never been on one before…so my ride report will be my thoughts on comparing riding a dirt bike and riding on the black stuff.A perspective of a road bike Virgin
First impresion was how heavy they are !!! (hate to try an pick one up on the side of a hill)
Secondly,i was in the dirt bike riding stance for the first half of the trip, which i soon learned that it is not nessasary  .My thighs were ready to stand up alll the time and move my sexy body to different positions in a split second.I was like a wound up spring ready to explode :cheer: …But there was no reason to  .the pegs had rubber on them…that was bloody weird. The dash had heaps of info on it and i had to get use to using indicators  that was bloody weird  Couldn’t see the front mudguard.that was bloody weird  I was doing 100km +…that was bloody weird  Cars looked like they were going at snails pace…that too was bloody weird :blink:All in all it…to me….was a very weird experience :cheer:
The trip back from Bendemeer was better as i got use to how to ride itThe comparision between both…IMO…is that they are so bloody different its not funny.
I DID enjoy myself…i mean your on a bike…How can you not? :cheer:Gordan is the farmer who took me for a spin. The BMW 650 GS i rode is his “Farm Bike”.He rode his “work bike” the BMW R1200 RT. We did about 100km and it was bloody fun !!!Thanks Gordo :cheer:
It would be a wicked bike to take out west !!!!…Working on it TB
Have i become an ADV junky now?…no. Give me pines and mud any day :woohoo:
But,to take a bike away on a long trip for a few days…Hell yeah
I know its not a “road bike “as such…but its the closest to a road bike that i have ever been on.
Hope you enjoyed my comparison and i had a bloody good time :cheer:
afew Pics
The “farm bike” i rode :cheer:
Gordan ready to go on his big beast
we did do a bit of dirt too…and the odd bridge

February 11, 2011 at 3:50 pm #196679your frilly underwear has been ordered and a splint for. your soft cock can be picked up from your gay bar …….:. you used to be such a good bloke!
February 11, 2011 at 4:41 pm #196680Nice report Bollocks and thanks for sharing your thoughts and views. I agree anytime on any bike is better than no riding or being the type of person that hangs shit on something they haven’t done or tried. I used to enjoy my road bikes as well in the day but always liked the dirt more. I really do love the motard wheels on my XR when I fit them but alas if I do much of that I will be walking (instead of driving) or dead  it’s soooooooo much fun 👿
Do it all mate I say, I have done most all there is to do on bikes and love it all just some parts more than others
Camerons will be a legend trip this year I can’t wait, don’t know if the bemmer is the bike for it though, what’s doing with the XT??

February 11, 2011 at 6:55 pm #196693when is the camerons ride?
it’s a trip I plan to do myselfFebruary 11, 2011 at 7:29 pm #196694I wholly agree with you TB.
Coming from a road background I enjoy any and all forms of riding.
I now enjoy dirt and have my 11 year old son to thank as he wanted to learn to ride a bike.
February 11, 2011 at 8:19 pm #196698Good stuff Bol!!
It’s going to be great to have you riding this year to Camerons mate, I love my single trail riding but I’ve got to say the adventure riding has got me too. It’s a huge country we live in and would take 2 lives to see it all on singles so I’m all for the ADV experiance.
Looking forward to seeing the bike you chose to do adventure rides ??February 11, 2011 at 10:37 pm #196681Nice report Bol.
It is wierd when first start on a road type bike.
Maybe it was that you were on a BMW cause I heard you have to fairly old and and in the early stages of dementure to ride one of their ‘adventure’ bikes.
Good luck with what ever steed you choose for adventuring.
NOW get back on the WR and ring it’s neck!!!!! :woohoo:
February 11, 2011 at 10:54 pm #196706Charlie and whats his name aren’t old just whinging poms
I admit I think old when I here BMW  But they do make the best equipped and finished bikes on the market IMO
I rode a 800 for a mate to purchase a couple of weeks ago and it was finished nice
