Does this mean I can go home and finish painting the house?

I noticed he has tidied up the office but not my desk if I did that he might be impressed

Hmmmmm….difficult one. It depends on the situation, I’d stay and try and find something constuctive to do. It sounds like you’re unsure if he’s genuine or not.

Why don’t you call him and ask if there’s anything that you can get on with? If not come to my office I have plenty for you to do

Reading between the lines will only create more confusion. Your boss is telling you to go riding so just do it.
If he didn’t mean it he will soon let you know and he will be much less cryptic in the future.

your mind worries me, we have cleaner for that.

Kylie, it’s something like maintaining a big computer system in a big organisation but I really only started this thread because the original ‘worst thread ever’ got deleted and left me with nothing to do on days like this.
