One minute I’m riding like a champ (in my own mind) and then all of a sudden I’ll be running wide, overshooting corners, hitting rocks etc. and just generally riding like a total newbie.

What do you guys do to get your concentration back when riding?

I rode like this last week, I was just never comfortable on the bike and it was dominating my thoughts instead of looking to the horizon I was looking at the ground in front of me and constantly being caught out by obstacles including hitting a 12″ log across the trail at 90 klicks, luckily for me muscle memory and an instant adrenaline hit got me over it without a problem, but if it had been at 45 degrees to the track in the wet (which it was) I reckon I’d be writing this from the trauma ward now.

Me I’m taking a few weeks off to sort my bike out and get it to where I am happy with the setup again.

The rest is rest, diet and attitude.

Get out there have fun and don’t worry about falling off until it happens If you think you are going to stack you will. Positive mind will help I try to ride my best at most times but sometimes you just pick the wrong line I look at onething only whats in front and where can I go without stacking it everyday you ride is a bonus for nextime its all good just enjoy

Actually Mr Blue makes a good point about diet rest and exercise as fatigue will play a big part in your ability to concentrate. When things are going a bit off, stop, rehydrate and refuel the body which will help to regain focus.

Thanks for your help guys. I’m not the fittest bloke around (see my name), so that’s something I’ll have to work on (and I’ll try to stop thinking about boobs  ). Cheers.
