never use DOT5 as it is a silicone based fluid and id dyed purple.
KTM gaskets and brake lines are not designed for dot5 and it should never be used!
hope this helps fellas
OMG!
I have just read this post back three times and it is informative, devoid of any sarcasm and makes perfect sense.
Are you OK Menace?
You just had to do it didn’t you STM, I was hoping for our first ever thread that stayed on TOPIC…

May 12, 2009 at 9:58 am #133775Had heaps of problems with brake fluid in my rally car dot 4 would boil on long down hills so i went to AP race fluid no boil but if you didnt flush it you would get sized calapers as its hydrascopic value is a lot less than dot 4 and all the moisture ends up at the lowest point of the system
I use dot4 and regularly flush itno extra hole in bango bolt on any kato ive got or bled brakes onsome 5 bikes now??? sounds like dr 400 advice Boony ??

Hemoroids that explode when in a pressurised enviroment, that’d probably be funny but.
May 12, 2009 at 11:25 am #133847I use a large Syringe from a vet, I drain most of the fluid from reservoir and fill the Syringe with new fluid and hold it against the nipple, push the plunger and crack the nipple and push the fluid from the bottom up thus pushing the air out, tighten the nipple up before you stop pushing the plunger. Use plenty of fluid to push it all through in one hit, works every time
Over the years done most every brand of common bikes and never a problem

Was that the explanation of how to bleed a brake or my excuse for not having to go to Vegas?
May 12, 2009 at 11:31 am #133855Thanks TB. Did you just drop into the vets and ask for one or what? I might try a chemist, I think if I tell the vet I need something to crack the nipple and push the fluid from the bottom up they’ll probably arrest me

As far as your excuse goes walk into work dressed in your purple hippo suit and start swinging your arse and patting air arse and they wont send you, why do I have to think of everything

That would be ideal.
