Well Mal at Sutto’s has convinced me to try a Bridgestone ED78, now Mal’s been warned that I / my bike can be a decent test for a tyre and that I like Michelins and will speak my mind based upon my results. Mal is happy enough that my experience and opinion will be fair no matter what the results
I have paid for the tyre and will tell you how it goes
Bridgestone ED78 Enduro Tyre.
Features >
Excellent for intermediate to hard terrain
Features rim protector
Heavy duty reinforced construction for anti-puncture and cut resistance.
Outstanding durability for the most punishing terrainTB
May 4, 2009 at 10:23 am #132450fairly expensive tyre it would want to last have noticed the bridgstones are a bit pricy are they made in japan there must be a reason for it.
May 4, 2009 at 10:40 am #132458Yeah it was, I could but two retreads for the price, I am told it will perform but need to see for myself.
I went in the purchase a Michelin Desert or a Michelin Baja and they are more expensive, so we will see, that Pirelli Scorpion will take some beating and its $45 cheaper
Cheers Rocket

AnonymousLooks like a good tyre TB, I have had a good run out of the Bridgestones that I have.
But considering my bike is only a 250 they should last.

AnonymousInteresting to see how it goes. I have a feeling it won’t be worth the money.

What do you base you opinion on? Your experience with using Bridgestone tyres? Your years of riding out here in Australia’s many conditions? Your intermit knowledge of the ED78 and its multi compound construction? Your knowledge of it history and use in the Baja 1000 on big bore motorcycles? :laugh:Wish you had told me before I bought it, because I can tick some of the above boxes and I think it will go alright but have to try it to be sure, my opinion of it is worth nothing till I test it

May 14, 2009 at 7:12 am #134157Hi all
How times change.
I hade a ED78 out at condo one year TB and you baged me out for not getting a desert.
The ED78 was and is a great tyre and been around a long time.
The same as a desert but cheaper. Will be keen to see what you think TB.
This is how many km’s i have gotten out of mine.
100km at the condo 750 before big CRASH.
Did yellow mt last year which is about 400 odd km’s or a bit more
550 odd km ride from the central coast to buladehela round trip and a few small rides about 200km’s.
So round 1250 odd km’s and i will do a few rides round here before changing.so will get 1500 out of it.
They are a heavy tyre so smaller cc bikes would know its there.May 14, 2009 at 7:47 am #134161No it was little sister that bagged you for being in Hospital with a bleeding lip
I wouldnt have bagged you because A/ You cant fit a desert to your DR because they only come in a 140 and I had one but couldnt fit it to my XR 600 because it was to big, and I havent raced the 650 in the 750 only the 600 and I have only run a desert on the 650 because thye only come in 140’s
Sorry mate you are mistaken
