Have to start with a big thanks for the hospitality from Al and his wife Gale.
It was great to have the base for our riding at their place which backs straight up to the forest
Day 1
Corey, Nato, Dude and me
We arived and brought the rain with us but that didn’t stop us for going out for a late run
Unfortunately they had a bit of a blow up that way a couple of weeks earlier and there were trees down everywhere. One of the trees down had to be 8ft in diameter. No chance of log hopping over that one.
Took on some steep slippery hills that were great fun and had a rest up at the towers which had an awesome veiw.Day 2
The Bowen Brothers, Steve, Burnsy, Alex, Nato, Ev, Al, Dude and me
Woke to blue skies and headed for an early surf at Scotts Head
Just got back in time for the kickoff and we rode straight out the back into the forest
The conditions were a little bit slippery but once over the Highway it became great.
Our first single was skipped after bashing through the Lantana and vines for a while
The rest of the day became a blurr. We did a lot of very fast open stuff broken up by some awesome singles. The singles dropped down into beautiful river beds where we probably should of stopped and soaked in the envroment. Burnsy got caught on a log at one of many steep decents and dropped his bike, running back up the hill like a mad man. He had disturbed a hive of bees and got hit by a few of them. The rest of us took a detour around the log and it was a while before the bees calmed down enough for Burnsy to reteive his bike. Lunch was had at The pub with no beer and then it was back to the bush for more singles and steep ground. :woohoo:
A swim at the beach completed the day and refeshments and a feed (thanks Gale) was had in the shed
Thanks to Nath, Al, Stuart and Ev for leading and sweeping
It was a grewat ride and unfortunately I only got a few pics
Cheers

AlMarch 17, 2013 at 11:06 am #238358Thanks to everyone who turned up to make this an enjoyable ride. In the lead up to this ride the weather was terrible, But we did have a week of fine weather, until murph and Dude turned up and brought the rain with them. Thank goodness it was only over night and Saturday was perfect day. We rode from my place out to the Macksville side of the ride where Ev took over the lead, The first part of the track a week before was in excellent condition but in the week before the ride the loggers had gone through so we cut that section out. The trails were in excellent condition and minimal dust. The ride moved at quiet a quick pace. With a very capable ride group nobody was left behind, As Murph mentioned about Burnsy and the bee’s you find out who your friends are when you are all yelling at him to keep away as he ran up the hill bringing the bee’s with him.I made a hasty retreat into the gully. The trails were very challenging and the little 250 suffered on some of the hills from lack of talk so a 450 maybe in the wind. The only injury of the day was Ev he hurt his ribs and couldn’t do the 2nd day he left on sunday morning. The food at the Pub with no beer was excellent. Sunday we woke to another perfect day Murph and Dude left to go home, so six headed out for the sunday ride about 9 and had a blast on the mountain, a few trees down so we did a bit of log hopping but had a blast. the pace was on we would of rode more than 3 hours but Burnsy was getting tired and steve had a big off, high light of Saturday night took the big Tv out to the shed a watched all the days Vids on the big screen. Thanks again to all the guys for a very memorable ride, And a big thanks to Ev for all the work he put in your a champ mate.
We hope your ribs are ok.Looking forward to Nato’s, Ev’s and Dudes vids.Bigger al

As murph said a big thanks to Al and Gail for their hospitality.
Friday hambugers were great and hit the spot, use of the garage to set up tent (made the sleeping arrangements much drier) and sausage sandwiches saturday. Top job.:cheer:
Friday wet wet wet ground conditons slippery expecially a clay hill with leaf litter being more than a challenge for some.

Lots of log hops till the mother of all logs had a lay down across the track, so back the way we had come so got to do log hops up hills.
I was thinking this weekend could be serious.
Saturday. nice and once over the 1st mountain conditions dryed out and were perfect.
They have a different problem up there and thats not enough bike traffic with trail being overgrown with lantarna rage but got used to it after a while.Lovely creek runs and cool slippery clay hills out of the gullies ( not many rocks but heaps of leaf litter and sticks)
We al rode up all the hills, some had moments but the hills were conkered.
Had fun. :cheer:
:woohoo:
got some photos not many cause the crew rarey spread out, (like on open sections I’m riding quite fast and nervey not knowing what’s up next) and get to a corner to be able to see the crew all on my tail   😆
