    Bright – Mt Beauty – Wodonga – 241k’s

5 Minutes out of town picked up a stick and threw the chain, Unloaded the bike and started to push it to a level section and Rod turned up and lent a hand.
    APC2014070.jpg

Plenty of creeks ect on the way up Mt Beauty cold and foggy so no views for us

Lots of slippy Clay downhill sections with evidence of carnage in a few places

Topped off with a good run through some awesome rolling hills
    vlcsnap-2014-06-13-14h07m11s55.png

Ill finish this up when i get back right around the scrap heap ride

Loads of dirt lanes zig zagging the main road and lots of intersections across it woooooooo.
    vlcsnap-2014-08-28-14h55m06s103.png
Most of it was quick but there were some deep boggy sections

Got the first taste of a lot of sand to be coming up tomorrow.. Also caught a glimpse of Craig Hartley fueling his 700RR and pressing on. I had other priorities namely beers and trying not to think of sand dunes fully loaded and fueled. Spent the night in a motel next to the 24hr servo

Sand Sand and more Sand, This was the best time on the bike i have had for a while plenty of get offs and lay downs. Munched on a couple of codapain’s a whole lot of caffeine and it was throttle on and GO! Fired up the high beam and spotlight

This went on and on, ended up on the pegs 3rd gear having a riot
    APC2014095.jpg

The last of the track to the border was interesting to say the least, Gopro dead at this stage
Imagine getting railed on heavily rutted twin tracks and then spat out onto a major highway!
    APC2014097.jpg

Best riding of the rally, The sand around Hattah is perfect never ridden on anything like it

Renmark – Yunta – Almost Hawker (Craddock Hotel) 487k’s

Well fuck.. at least it is worthy of a photo
    APC2014103-2.jpg

Later on down the road there is another KTM in fail to proceed mode

    APC2014109.jpg

After 45 minutes of tyre changing lessons, we were off. Later on i found out the battery on the “good” ktm was left on the key..
Starving, thirsty and almost dead they raided a mining camp for water and food :P

    Yunta – APC2014117.jpg

Apparently the pub is shit so pressed on into the setting sun

    vlcsnap-2014-09-08-22h23m31s231.png

As im sure you all know riding into the sun is shit.. I spent the next 45 minutes riding into it.
Most memorable riding experience was finding a momentary refuge in a culvert only to have a wallaby try to commit suicide twice.
The little battler bounded across my path only to eat shit in a pot hole/rock and return the same way it came

The rest of the way in i was looking at black dots hoping there were no landcrusers heading my way
    APC2014122.jpg

Woke up the next morning in a field of really old broken glass.. Poor campsite choice

    Hawker – Arkarooroola 353ks

Rolled into Hawker early, Sunday. All the good things mentioned in the track notes were shut.

    APC2014133.jpg
Fuelled up inhaled a sausage roll and dare espresso, Spent the rest of the day chasing a train line

Oh and riding through the Flinders…
    vlcsnap-2014-09-16-17h20m00s34.png

Crested a hill into these two, Smartest or dumbest animal on the planet is debatable.
    vlcsnap-2014-09-16-17h13m14s64.png
Heard a report someone on a 950 crested a similar hill into a flock of them. DNF Bike on a trailer and off to hospital.. I got off easy but it was a big locked up slapper moment :D

After that it was an easy run into Arkooroola

    Arkaroooola – Cameron Corner 435ks

After spending the arvo sinking beers to the setting sun woke up to another 0700am departure
The road out of Arkaroola was littered with joeys and other small soon to be deceased mamals
    APC2014156.jpg

The road was pretty quick low pressures and pinch flats on the drains and nasty bits were popular

    APC2014157.jpg

Dipped into the medicine cabinet here, hands were fucked wrists blown up hating life in a big way

    APC2014159.jpg

This could have gone so bad i almost dont want to think about it..

    APC2014160.jpg

Pinned down the new Strezlecki road this happened . Initially i thought i hit a bull dust hole
Rear wheel bottomed on the guard and sent me skidding down the road for a bit
Upon further inspection i was missing two rear indacators…

    Beer is good (Cameron Corner)
    APC2014163.jpg
    APC2014164.jpg

Upon further inspection, snapped the pannier frame in half on both sides

    Cameron Corner – Thargomindah 342Ks

Bike was a bit of a concern with the broken pannier frame (Total Bullshit hit the piss hard) so i was taking it easy to avoid duct taping my gear back on after the frame disintergrated

    Y.C.W.C.Y.O.D.F.T.R.F.D.S

So i waved on the guys i was riding with and checked out the scenery instead. Loads of Rocky Ridge lines and to quote the track notes
“Take it easy on the rocky Ridge lines as they can get very rough on riders and gear. About 10 Gates”

    APC2014171.jpg

Pulling into Thargomindah pub i spotted two blokes having a quick bite to eat before pushing on, I rode around town to find a bloke with a welder and decided a donger and few quiet beers were the order of the day

    vlcsnap-2014-11-11-19h17m01s192.png

Not too sure what went on this day but here is a taster

Fueling up in Wellmoringal i think.. Yea publican here was a champion kinda pissed off i didnt press on the day before..
    APC2014177.jpg
    APC2014179.jpg

Loads more flat out dirt and i met these two again.
    APC2014180.jpg

They were doing it tough every single time i met them, Flat after flat thrashed rear d606 was the culprit. I rolled up to the sound of a little slime compressor
slowly melting the piston before poping a fuse somewhere. Im stuck in Queensland in the middle of nowhere 15 more k’s to the pub..

    APC2014181.jpg

Note the rear on the DR, After turning up in Queensland on the State of Origin with one fucked bike and 3 thirsty blokes we drew a crowd with the NSW plates.
After seeing the state of us a local put down his shit beer jumped in his car and returned with a NOS 1980’s tube that just might fit. It worked

And we watched the blues win

    Hebel – Mungindi – Goondiwindi – Dalby 666ks

7am departure for a 6pm finish, This was the best day of the ride on the bike ever. I split without the other two and settled in to banging out kilometers.

Black soil with a light damp for breakfast, Wide open graded dirt and interesting sections of old road off to the side of the major dirt lanes
Almost chalked up a young pig. Passed a few blokes pulling an old 640 apart with dirty fuel

    vlcsnap-2015-02-06-19h20m37s223.png

Goondiwindi follows a dingo fence and as soon as i saw the forestry sign i knew it was going to be a handful. Track notes mentioned a bit of sand
    vlcsnap-2015-02-06-19h37m01s180.png
They didnt mention it looked like it had just seen a motocross event, i dumped the bike a couple of times and i was wasting energy and daylight
    vlcsnap-2015-02-06-19h36m28s109.png

Then it started getting dark and the single track was looming ahead. Bike was fucken cooking, I was an absolute mess energy was only provided by caffeine pills and a quick
draw on the empty camel back. Rode over a few downed trees and it was getting real black and ominous.

After the single it cut along what i think was a train line with garbage washed out hills with gates half way up. I stopped bothering checking the terrain as it varied from
clay rock sand and i couldn’t see shit anyway so it wasn’t worth worrying about

Finally made it into a campsite 20ks out of dalby, it was a concession based deal with hot showers and full of camper vans, Stood in the shower for 5 goes of Hot shower relief
Though about knocking the concession tin off for beer money, kicked the swag out and got some food in and had a drink, Orange flavor powder and vodka never tasted so good
Sat back with the headphones on thinking how good was that!

    Wake up
    APC2014%20185.jpg
Back on the bike 7am for a quick ride down the road to town for coffee, And wait for Dalby Moto to open for a well needed service
Brand spanking new 606’s and 2 litres of whatever the shop oil was.
    APC2014%20186.jpg
The rear rimlock looked like a bannana so it got binned,Whoever said balancing dirt tires was a waste of time has never done big kilometeres.. Im now converted

Ended up running into Roderick and Alistair, My bike was good to go at 9:20am but the body wasnt,Sat around talking shit
    APC201420187.jpg
and wasting time, Only to discover more cracks on the pannier racks.. Quick squirt with the mig and it was a lazy day.

Along the way we spotted this place, They all left after we rolled in smelling like corpses and behaving like cunts
    APC2014%20196.jpg

Spent the rest of the afternoon sinking piss at the Grand Old Crow in Crows Nest
