I recommended Suttos to a fellow rider (Rosscoact) on ADV, He owns a 690 Kato and was having trouble finding someone to diagnose the fault. He is booked on the APC RALLY coming up & was getting frustrated to bits I think,,,
Anyway, Suutos diagnosed the prob successfully & he gave them a quote “BIG TWO THUMBS UP” for service & competency ;)

Thats what its about hey ???

Have been reading a bit of this thread and there are two sides to the story and some will go one way and some the other
personally I haven’t had my bike for long i had 15 yrs without a bike (that was a mistake to start with)
I bought a second hand bike it lasted a while worked out its what i wanted to do again
Had to spend some money on it
went to 4 local bike shops in 3 different towns , i’m a tight arse
trying to find information and some prices

I got screwed over big time they were all c..ts and ripped me off from little things to big things over a period of time and told me i needed this that and everything
wanted to do this wanted to do that , i’m not a bike mechanic and don’t want to be i’ve got enough other stuff to fix i just want to ride it

so i don’t know a lot about it , maybe i asked too many questions and they thought heres a chance to make a quick buck
if i wasn’t a tight arse and made them put it back together at two different shops i would be a lot poorer
So as far as i’m concerned they can bash it up there arse
one has since gone broke and another sold out
No i didn’t try some of the sponsors ,some may not have been here at the time can’t remember but i didn’t want to take my bike anywhere inconvenient
have since found a local guy who does it on his own from a small shed in a local town and he rebuilt my bike did a good job at an excellent price
but as for apparrel and things i then went to a well known one that strts with B they were better had what i wanted but didn’t seem to give a shit so i’ve moved on and at the moment i’m buying O/s
its my money and to be honest i think a fair % of home grown enterprises want too much
yes there operating costs are/may be higher here but so are consumers living costs
I wholesale and retail things in a different industry and know what happens in it and how much people can and will mark things up
there is a word for the society that we live in but i can’t think of it at the moment
anyway when our local arseholes go broke some one will start up again or the odd one that provides service with a smile and at a reasonably competitive price will prosper

Thats my rant BLA Bla BLA

Sutto’s really need to have some one full time on their website. They have a few token items on there, that have been on for the past few months and nothing more. But you walk in to their shop and they have a heap of gear, at good prices.

It would be a pain in the butt job uploading all the stock on to the site, but with the way e-commerce is thriving these days, they would be losing 1000’s of dollars a week through lost sales.

I have to agree on this. Sutto needs to get “with it” and be a bit more web savvy. Lucky for him he has a man that is more than capable of doing the job already working there. Young Scott AKA TISCO. Good young fella he is.

I like to see and touch alot of stuff that I buy, especially riding gear.. I like to speak with mechanics also. If they seem alright and the price suit me and my budget I’ll give them a go and if it’s all ok I’ll go back:) Sometimes I buy stuff online through places like Suttos or Ballards too. I always ask if they can do a better price and they all come back with a heap better one.

A few blokes that I work with have started buying stuff from the US lately cause of the high dollar and seem happy with it all. I could be a bit harder too sort out if ya gotta send something back though.

I reckon there are bargains everywhere both locally and OS and both are right either way you choose to go.

No one likes to feel ripped off.

While in theory it may seem like a good idea, it is very time consuming to deal with online business. Most online shoppers are searching for a bargain not just convenience and there is no way the Australian market place can compete at the moment. In my experience I found the effort put into establishing an online shop was simply not justifiable from a business point of view (maybe things have changed). If you search the web there are several online bike shops that are based in Australia but none of them offer the variety of choice that OS sites do. I would guess that this is because it is simply not financially viable to do it in Australia because you could not compete on a global scale.

    Credit were credit is due.

I needed a shock bearing kit for my XR650, I contacted MudnTar at 2pm yesterday and ordered it, I just got a call from them to say it was ready to be picked up this morning!! They got it in, over night from QLD. Get that sort of service from your OS online stores!! You dont mind paying a little extra when you get service like that!!

There is a lot to be said about being loyal to a store that goes out of their way to help you. They also fitted a helicoil to my swingarm on Saturday morning when I arrived there unannounced and only charged me $10.

Thanks guys I will be back.

It is only the right thing to do if you can save yourself several thousand dollars. I will admit I have bought at least 40 bikes from over seas (yes you read it right, 40) and if I hadn’t done that, I am damn sure that I wouldn’t be able to be doing what I am doing now as far as motorcycling goes. I have spent considerable time, effort and money learning how to import bikes as a business venture. If someone had shown me where I could have gotten a brand new YZ250F for less than $7K landed at my house, here in OZ I would most likely have bought it.
I for one cannot afford what they are asking for new bikes here in OZ. You can actually land a brand new bike from the US on your doorstep cheaper than most dealers can buy it off the Australian distributors. That is something that needs to be addressed by the dealers and distributors. But be warned it is a minefield of paper work and hidden costs if you are thinking about doing it yourself.

I ride a DRZ 400 E and needed a heap of bits for it in readiness for the corner ride later this year. I didn’t bother dicking around on the web to find all the required bits at the best prices. I simply rang Scotty at Suttos with the parts list and he sourced it all for me. Total of $795.00 all up then the old bull discount bought it down to $695.

Thanks Scotty and Suttos’ I will be back

Thanks for all the feed back Guys, We are currently working on getting a full time website Staff member, We try take it in turns to update it but dont have the time to dedicate to the site every time we have new products.
Luckily one of my jobs to do is look after the members of Old Bulls and put our specials up when we have them, (New specials up soon)
Glad to see the message is getting through to allot of people that we can try and match U.S pricing, We may not be making much profit but atleast we are keeping most of our customers happy and thats what we have been about for the past 18 years.

    Thanks again.

Nah that wasn’t a bite Rocket. That was me explaining my actions. ;) A bite is totally different thing all together. I was waiting on someone to pick me up on that, seeing as it was me that actually started this thread in the first place.
