Spent the afternoon outside with the kids and a few beers and a load of gear that needed mounting to the Tenere.
It ended up the best I’ve loaded the bike since I’ve owned itStill over a week to go but I’m keen as to get going now :woohoo:
September 23, 2011 at 10:23 pm #199621Well Nick,

Anyway I’ve still got to re-pack at least 15 times if other rides are anything to go by !!
September 23, 2011 at 11:48 pm #209576Well I started to get my bike in order for this trip. As I am riding tomorrow with DeeJay I couldn’t see the point in fitting my new gold sprocket, gold chain, wheel bearings etc.
I pulled the front end apart, checked all the wiring etc repaired the heated grip wiring, replaced a blown low beam globe and fixed the speedo assembly that needed tighteningCan see in the below photos the extra (bigger) washer to squeeze the rubber and stop the dash rattling. ( top left screw Nick and the washer ID needs to be bigger than the plastic locating guide )
I fitted a new tyre for tomorrow, not for Camerons it will be pretty wet and slippery tomorrow
Scotty sold me a Dunlop K190 yeah a K190 Sutto reckoned it must be the last one left around  Not road legal but man it has some knobs
Will be interesting slabbing in the wet at 6am tomorrow morning
The big maintenance day is next weekend
TB

Only 14 more unpacks to go then mate
You wil be an expert by the time the ride starts proper, and you will be the first rider repacked & mounted up each morning at Sparrow`s Fart , waiting on the others :silly:September 25, 2011 at 4:29 pm #199624Hi All,
I have just spent the last hour reading the Cameron’s thread !!!.Boulder & I have done many adventure rides together and I agree with TB and Nick J, you must prepare your bike the best you can {But shit still happens} We will all help each other out no matter what. Before each ride the butterfly’s kick in and if that didn’t happen I’d worry. This will be a great adventure ride I have ridden with most of the guys going and am looking forward to riding with you all again as for the slower riders{ me being one of them} don’t worry just ride at your own pace and enjoy every minute of it,once the outback bites you in the bum you can’t wait to go back out there again. My bike is ready to go all work done just have to pack my panniers !! can’t waittill next week.
Cheers fish :woohoo:September 25, 2011 at 5:15 pm #209654fish wrote:Hi All,

Cheers fish :woohoo:Interesting read there Fish as I will be posting something about the best YOU can do  tonight, have some interesting information
You are right though because you can’t always take the EASY GIRLS option into Bilman and leave poor Boulder to ride the harder mans adventure ride like you did on the recent TK ride eh
Lucky your brother is a real ADV rider unlike yourself it seems. So ride at your pace Fish and I will let you you know of any easy options for you to take
Thanks to a little birdy for the tip about limp fish’s recent efforts

Stay tuned for more on the Boulder brothers recent maintenance attempts on recent rides

September 25, 2011 at 6:06 pm #209655Hmmmm The real story mate was I did my back in and still had three days riding ahead of me with no support so decided to pull out at the half way point and rest my back !! But hey don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story. As for the bike I smashed my plastic chain guide, as I said shit happens but have replaced it with a metal one so hopefully it won’t happen again.but it did make a good photo on ADV which you just happened to stumble across !!.If we do find some water crossings out there which I doubt I hope that you won’t hold up the ride for to long as you did on the high country ride earlier this year !!!!and needless to say who was there to pick your bike up {twice] and help you dewater it {twice} as I said earlier mate that’s what Adventure riders do Help each other out.I must admit I do like your new name though Bubbles
or was it Nazi 👿 looking forward to a good ride boy’s Cheers Fish
September 25, 2011 at 6:18 pm #209656I read with interest your response mate  this drowning you talk off leaves me puzzled as I have seen no evidence (photo) of my bike in a creek laying down or drowned etc
We will see many a creek on this ride as I doubt we will make the corner again if the weather reports are right
my fellow nazi and I are working on different options just in case
Yes I have seen said photo, real time evidence actually unlike the talk of me drowning my bike
Maybe the birdy left the facts out, maybe not

I remember that first picture that’s me washing the bike and everyone admiring my bike

Nick is laughing here because I feel in the river while washing my bike, the river was deep and someone said mate you should have had a snorkel
Again Fish I haven’t seen a picture of it in the river like you say, it’s all here say at the minute
You want photographic evidence of what happens when you fail to prepare, watch this space
