I am tenting…………does that mean something else as well, anyway

Got some new bits and spares delivered today from VSM to make the mighty DR Bushpig Cameron Corner ready. :woohoo:

I realised I had to buy a headlight protector after riding behind Tryhard on the Bulga ride.

Hope the weather has cleared some for this weekend riding.

    Hello Jeffro..

At this stage it will be the vstrom, if my work runs out and I have time to fiddle the Cagiva then maybe???? But the vstrom is ready except for tyres, I asked the guys at suttos regarding tyres but they never got back to me, so I need to decide the best choice. I think the riding will be well within the vstrom capability, and it will be lots comfortable. I intend to ride all the way from home so the trip to Condo[or wherever we start] will have ‘all my everything’ onboard. I am thinking I will buy a fuel bladder

to make sure I have the range on longer sections. 12 litres+the full tank, should get me all up 400km in hard going. What are you riding?? Am I going to be the only behemoth??

I took some time off today to start getting the DRZ ready for the trip,

I fitted new wheel bearings front and rear and got a set of spares,
I replaced the blown seal from last weekend
Checked and tightened every nut and bolt
    Full service and grease
worked out how my exsisting saddle bags would fit( not bad, might use em!)
got spare air filters and Motul oil
    Fitted pivot pegz

while at the bike shop I asked about tyres( here we go again)
there has been a new tyre thrown in the mix ‘a Mitas Dakar E-09’ does anyone know about them??
I also enquired on gearing and 15-44 was suggested ?? Anyone??
Also brake pads ,soft with spares or hard( with no rear brake feel!!)??
I looked at gel seats ( nice but heavy ) $199 and air hawk (small)$??

I ‘m getting close to being organised but would welcome any thoughts on the above :)

10 weeks 2 days Nick  love your enthusiasm. I have my tyres sorted, chased tyres up for Krusty, bash plate is here for my bike, my fuel map controller arrived today (more fuel more power, re mapping device) also today more Andy Strapz stuff. Also got the bearing numbers including the cush drive bearing.
I picked up some freeze dried meals for emergency unsupported overnight stay. Will go the Maccas in the morning and steal some jams, peanut butters, Vegemite’s etc

Will go and get my bike over the weekend and start fitting the goodies

I have used a few and like Back Country brand the best buts that a personal thing. I am only taking a couple in the saddle bags in case we dont meet the support vehicle or they are late because Bollocks gets drunk passes out and PEP cant get him back in the ute

I bought mine from a camping shop but here is an on-line shop for you

I will take a little burner to make a coffee and boil water, easy. I normally just pour the hot water in the bag and eat out of it saves washing up

Here is a sepo talking about them (make Krusty home sick for his fellow sepo’s   )

10 weeks, jeez you blokes are keen, sounds like you will be ready to go next week, I haven’t even settled on a bike yet, let alone which tyres or luggage carrying options. Best I get my finger out.

I am looking at a bike again tomorrow, am thinking this will be the last one I have to look at for a while if the pictures of it are accurate.

What is it I here you ask, loose lips sink ships, Ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

A site worth a look Andy Strapz Web Site

I have Andy Strapz Soft Panniers that I have burnt and had repaired and now crash tested and they are still good.

I recently purchased flat strapz because I was sick and tired of ocky straps and then I had one come of and hit me in the head. Also the narrowier ocky straps seem to bite into everything where these strapz are wider and have a bigger working range where an ocky is either to short or to long these are better. I just bought another two sets as I tried a set and am happy with them

    Anyway its worth a look

I`m sure their fully aware that all the metallic interference from all the iron ore in the ground out there only interferes with certain gps units, I think the Garmin 60Cx is the worst effected but i am sure they wont take one of them.
