Hey boony.. yeah went to 15/44 I think I may try a 42.. for $48 it is worth finding that gearing your happy with.. I don’t like to over rev me engine so I will gear so she can sit on 120 kph like stock sits on 90 kph..
I think long term I will make 15/44 my permanent setup..

will that tall of a gearing hurt the clutch????
15/44 for the bush is a touch tall isnt it????
August 9, 2010 at 10:27 am #182216Tall for what? I held third gear steady zooming down tight fire trails with water diversion humps Saturday hovering between 50-65 kph.. I don’t do a whole lot of tight single track or crazy snotty hill climbs like at the poker run.. I like to cruise and play easy.. Bones take to long to heal at 44 than 24 mate…
Not sure about the clutch.. A question to be answered by someone else.. What makes you feel the clutch would suffer?

wondering if it stressed it off the mark…
we doa fair bit of ( poker run ) type trails,so lower gearing for the bush suits me.August 9, 2010 at 10:33 am #185554Boony we ran 14 / 41 on Chops Banana and I rode it in the tight tight Orange pine single (mountain bike tracks some of them) and it goes fine and its steep in spots.
IMO DR’s are under geared and have such a strong bottom and mid range that doesnt shine because they are getting the pick handles rev’ed out of them just my opinion

August 9, 2010 at 10:39 am #185555I was going 15/44 bit not totally sure as I’d like to keep the case saver and have been told a 15 won’t fit with it on ?
Nick
August 9, 2010 at 10:41 am #185556Got to file / grind it a bit mate it will still fit
August 9, 2010 at 10:43 am #18555714/39 for the highway/outback???????
August 9, 2010 at 10:48 am #185559I have been on the gear commander and am still confused, what’s the equivalent to 15/44 with a 14 front ???
August 9, 2010 at 10:49 am #18556015/44 (42) bigger sprockets dont wear the swingarm sliding chain rubbers out as much if you follow my drift

August 9, 2010 at 10:53 am #1855621 front is roughly 3 rear Nick, I have changed mine to 14/42 and would have no worries about running to the corner at that.

that makes sense , I’ll go the 15 and get out the grinder
Are you saying the 42 rear was still good low down on the other Drz?

Would after watching Krusty’s would go a 15/44 myself, Chops banana had a 14 front with a 41 rear. Chop already had a new 14 and didnt want to buy a 15 is the only reason we stayed with the 14
