It works out to be 17.1 kms to a litre. The XR at Condo was doing 8 something kms for a litre and I got 9.2kms for a litre on the old bulls biggest weekend
Back to the Tenere I should be able to get 20 to 22 kms for a litre ridden easy they reckon.

September 18, 2010 at 6:00 am #187517I found this posted on another site, seems north west of where we are going is a shit fight still. Oh well we are riding adventure bikes may as well have an adventure
“Things are a mess outwest”
If your planning on an outback trip soon, check the conditions, the roads are crap and dangerous. Is it worth the risk?
Quote:
The manager of Mungeranie Hotel on the Birdsville Track says roads in outback South Australia should be closed indefinitely until they dry out.The northern section of the Birdsville Track in SA was re-opened after recent flooding, but is closed again because of more rain.
Phil Gregurke from the hotel says the Track should be closed to all but essential travellers.
“I think what they need to do is declare all the outback area from Oodnadatta across to Cameron’s Corner to Birdsville, Mount Dare as a disaster area and just close the entire place down,” he said.
“If it keeps raining like this there is going to be a major accident and we’re always concerned about anyone travelling along these roads when they’re in this sort of condition.”
The Transport Department says the northern section of the Birdsville Track is again closed in SA but the southern section from Marree is open to four-wheel-drives.
The Qld side of Birdsville is no better
Who knows what that really means for us, maybe nothing maybe we will have to sell Bollocks virginity to get canoe home
will tell all when we get back

September 18, 2010 at 6:53 am #187545That’s very true TB we are on adventure bikes and doing an adventure ride so it sounds like we’re not going to be disappointed.
I’m sure we don’t all get this oppotunity very often, a 10 day leave pass , a bike well prepared and the best country I know of to explore.
Who cares where we’re going as long as we’re going somewhere!!
Bring it on!!

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/longrange/raindatesdrill.jspSeptember 18, 2010 at 9:27 am #187558When chatting with the King of the big mile Boulder the other day he suggested we make sure everybody going has Ambulance cover minimum (or at least remind / advise them) because a Ambulance ride out of a remote area would cost a small fortune and and air Ambulance ride  the amount would cover the cost to run a small country

If you ride motorbikes and don’t have ambulance cover you are crazy.
My youngest son has frequent flyer points with the air ambulance choppers :Smick
