Love the shirts Nick….
September 22, 2010 at 9:52 am #187738Well this arvo I visited Sutto’s and picked up some of my bits and pieces. I got my tyres, front being a Pirelli MT21 which I fitted as I wont be riding it anymore
I used a new Michelin ultra heavy duty tube. I recently threw out a Michelin Ultra heavy duty that I had been running in the rear of my bikes since 2004 been in two XR600’s and my XR650. It had done over 60,000kms true  and had massive rubber balls in it  it had never been patched it was only that a railway spike got it on the Sofala ride
Sutto’s had them on special so it was a no brainer from experience
You can see how thick the tubes are here
I fitted a new Continental TCK80 which is standard fitment on a BMW 1200 and KTM690’s I think. They arent cheap for sure ( I got my Old Bull discount thanks ) The most expensive dirt bike tyre I have ever bought  I fitted it this arvo with another heavy duty tube of course
New wheel bearings fitted all around. New chain purchased being a DID 520VM Gold professional or something another 170 bucks retail again thank god for our discount
Its sad to say but the bike sits here ready to go even has my overnight emergency cloths and dehydrated meals etc
Reality is I need to change the oil and filter, clean the air filter, fit rear brake pads and drop the bike to the local Yamaha dealer for some warranty work and its ready as am I
435.5 hrs and we will be sitting at the pub having a beer ready to go in the morning
An excited TB :woohoo:
September 22, 2010 at 10:07 am #187746Good stuff TB , that continental looks the business.
I have kenda ultra heavy duty tubes that have done about 3000km , are they worth changing ??

The bridgestones are the same as the Michelins really but I had such a good run out of the Michelin thats why I lean that way.

but we are on the list and cant wait.
Did the front end of the bike after finishing night shift today. :S New wheel bearings & seals, greased steering head, checked the forks. Just hope I tightened everything back up properly and don’t do a Menace.
2 day ride around the Cells/ Nowendoc/ Nundle on the long weekend for a last shake down, then finish off the bike with tyres, chain, sprockets, bearings etc in the week before we go :woohoo:

It was meant to be “TEAM” Mick sorry typo have fixed it. I just wanted people paired up to use the buddy system (where you watchout for your buddy
)
After the 400 twins and the two most Casual people I know I was left with Boulder, Lotsa, you and I. I figured I will be in front the most as I have the route and want Boulders advise and thoughts. That left you two
and I had nothing else  got a suggestion

September 25, 2010 at 5:29 am #187808Got stuck into the preparations for the trip today, fitted the Biketique Barkbusters and Shoo Roos to the bike then got everything I am taking together and loaded it onto the bike including clothes. Still got to get some food to take which is fine as I still have room. I think I will get a tank bag as well just for putting things like the camera and wallet within easy reach and access. The bike is all loaded up and I will ride it to the meeting tomorrow coming back along the old Pacific Highway and over the Wattagns as a test run to see how the loads handles. The only other thing left to do is to get the tyres fitted, I was talking to a bloke yesterday that said the TKC Continentals would scrub pretty quickly on the tar and that I should have them fitted in Condo. I don’t know that we would have time Monday morning before we headed off, will see what others think at the meeting.
Some pics of the days events. The gear layed out (excluding clothes).
Loaded on the bike
The Biketique Hanguards
The Shoo Roos
The new Tyres waiting to be fitted
I even got a bit excited and fitted a new Pirelli Scorpion to the front of the DRZ
,,,,,,and the radiator guards to the Husaberg
I also fitted a rear rack, frame guards and case savers to the DRZ last weekend,,,,,,, even with a shocking hangover
That just leave on oil change (for all the bikes actually) and I am ready to go, good bad or indifferent, Bring it on :woohoo:September 25, 2010 at 5:31 am #187858Ooh, just remeberd, need some decent foot pegs before I go too.
September 25, 2010 at 7:30 am #187859Thats looking the goods Jeffro real nice

(02) 6895 4177 on sat morning, catch up with Shannon Noll
I reckon we will be on the road Monday morning by 7 am at the latest what with the excitement of it all
Its day light at 5.30 am and the first day and all :woohoo: :woohoo:
I am running a TCK80 on the rear as well and aren’t the slightest bit worried about the wear riding out there. They are standard equipment on the big 1200 bemmers and they do huge miles by all accounts
