May 11, 2011 at 11:07 pm #201061Swag is bigger to carry and you don’t have anywhere to sit out of the rian but is a quicker setup. I have the sleeping bag rolled up in the swag so you pretty muchjust roll it out and climb in. I have a swag which I used on the last birthday ride and didn’t even get into the sleeping bag, just had it unzipped and used as a blanket although this year may be a little colder..
May 11, 2011 at 11:09 pm #201062I go tent, although it may not be as comfortable you can get all your gear in under cover and it’s heaps smaller than a swag !
May 11, 2011 at 11:46 pm #201068Neither , just take a women and tell her its her responsibility to ensure you are lokked after in the manner your entitled to. PS, she should already know this and have your beer, uggies and dinner ready regardless if she has set up your tent or swag, then once she has done all that, she can sleep at the bottom of the bed to keep your feet warm.

May 12, 2011 at 12:16 am #201063If you don’t do much camping Aido then buy a cheap tent. I have a $60 (3.5kg) tent that has lasted for 15 years, but i only use it about 4 times a year.
A swag is good for road tripping when you want to sleep on the side of the road. Easy and quick to set up. A cheap swag will cost about $150 from eaby. That’s what I bought cause I don’t use it that much either. It’s handy for a quick over nighter. Just roll out and sleep and hope it doesn’t rain.
May 12, 2011 at 12:25 am #201079I am lucky enough to have both, the Tent for when on the bike. It packs super small and is light. The swag is warmer I reckon and it coming to Sofala for just that reason
I think Nick is doing a camping thread up sooner or later in the ADV section regarding who uses what and why

May 12, 2011 at 12:32 pm #201064When it’s just a one night camp I roll my clothes and a tarp up in my swag to save space, the tarp is good enough protection.
It’s the esky drama that I have, mine is too big, does anyone want to share ? Or I will just try to borrow a smaller one from somone.
