So my 44th birthday was coming and I wanted to do something for it, something for me. I had given thought and spoken with Nick regarding the APC but after doing a route for them I wasnt convinced the expensise and wear and tear on the bike was worth the effort after I had to tone down the route I put together for the NSW 4 day APC to suit the requirements it was given as we didn’t feel the route as tough enough ( that has changed as the 2012 APC is way tougher than last year) unfortunately we only learnt that well after I had committed to this trip.

I hadnt been to the cape since Oct 2004, it was actually my first ADV ride and the first big ride I organised. Because of some resricted areas and the chance to stay at my uncles beach house the numbers were kept to 4 which was my choice.

So here is the ride report as we have seen it

My spot tracker address that has been going since the start and hasn’t missed a beat really only two when it was flogging down

Spot address here click click and look

    day 1
Big drive left home at 4.15am Spoke with Kat at 4.30 the little doer was down the shed working on her bike.
Started raining at Taree and basically didn’t stop all day. Had lunch in Coffs with STM,  Moose and Kram caught up there. We stopped at Grafton motorcycles where Kram purchased a tyre to replace the one I forgot to get from my place (sorry mate)
Once at Nick’s Kram fitted his tyre we drank beers and gave encouragement the old bull way until I got dragged into it through frustration as did Jacko

    We spotted Boony’s new helmet

    Moose played ponies

He and Kram had a romantic candle light dinner

We had curry beers and hit the fart sack. Was the best curry I have had ever I reckon

    Spotted a pub

Grabbed some beers and bundies and a feed of Malaysian and settled down to watch the footy. Early start again tomorrow we should if all goes to plan be on the bikes and leaving Mackay by lunch tomorrow. That will put us basically a day ahead of schedule.
