Nickj, Moose, Kram and myself are going to the Cape in July. Plan is to drive to Mackay in QLD and leave the car there. Head inland NW across QLD and up to Normanton in the Gulf. From there up to Musgrove Station and up to the tip. Back down through Cape Melville NP, Cooktown, the Lion Den, PJs and back down the coast a day or two at Airlie Beach. Did the cape in 2004 and cant wait to go back :woohoo: Two weeks :woohoo: A pub crawl of such I reckon :woohoo:

There is a group of bikes and support cars going up from Narrabri to the gulf around that time too TB. I think it’s last week July and first 2 weeks August. Don’t think they are going to the tip, just the western side of the cape. They are riding from here and I don’t know their itinerary yet but if you happen to come across an unruly looking bunch they are guaranteed to have rum if you have run out. Last trip they carried the port in 10L jerry cans. Some of the support vehicle passengers are a bit partial to the festive beverages.

I haven’t done a pay tour up there Bob but we did stay at Punsands bay in 2004 up there the same time as one of their tours and spoke with some of the blokes doing it. They said they had access to some private property that we couldnt get onto. They were riding DRZs that looked as though they had seen some hard miles but they said were reliable. They had done a lot of the stuff that we had done. They looked well supported and were having a good time. The 2004 ride was one I organised with some mates we had our own tour guide that and we paid his way and provided the vehicle for him to drive. It worked wel and we just told him what we wanted to do and see and the time which wanted to do it. We included days off to watch the Australian GP and Bathurst 1000
If you haven the time etc to organise your own ride etc a fly into Carins and ride would be worth it

Sounds like a fun trip  There are only 4 of us going because we have a chance to access some private property thus we will be able to ride some tracks not open to the public, that and we will spend a day or two at my uncles beach front holiday house at Airlie Beach and he didn’t want to many people there

I’ve just spent the last hour looking at images from the areas we will be riding and I can’t wait to go on this ride.

It’s a ride I’ve wanted to do for 20 years and never had the right opportunity to do it.

Do we have to wait until July 👿 👿

    Lets go :woohoo: :woohoo:

I would love to do this trip but seeing as I told the misses I couldn’t get time off in june to go away with her because we would be flat out at work during those few months, I probably can’t explain how i could get time off in july.

    One day, one day

The cape trip will now include a night or two on Magnetic Island of Townsville. Just been doing some research and it will cost us $36 return to go over on the ferry with our bikes. We can camp on the beach and relax for a few days, drinks some beers :)

The route, it isnt set in stone but there are somethings I want to do
