castor oils probably offer the best lubrication in a smoker, but break down quickly in premix there are many castor based oils and synthetic castor types but R30 is still the one that smells like race day to me.BC

AnonymousOn advice from a mate who is a 2-stroke tech. I run maxima castor 927 in my 1974 cr125m and Honda nifty 50s.
The cr revs like a dental drill. And like the elsinore, the nifty 50s have a light switch for throttle position.
They run heaps smoother at full revs on castor.
Maxima 927 has additives that stop gumming, ring sticking and corrosion. However I only mix as required.
from maxima
Castor 927 is a unique blend of highly refined castor oil, a specially prepared synthetic and an additive system that reduces carbon and gum formation and provides excellent rust & corrosion protection. Castor 927 also contains an exclusive additive that keeps power valves cleaner and working properly. For all of us that wish to keep our air and water cleaner, Castor 927 is biodegradable. Castor 927 keeps on lubricating; where other lubricants turn to carbon or vaporize, and provides extra protection on cylinder walls, bearing journals and other critical areas at temperatures much higher than other lubricants.i run valvolene racing in the tm
July 16, 2009 at 10:13 am #144071Does it have the R30 spell?

However I blame RH main sealJuly 16, 2009 at 10:55 am #144075well eags, i dunno about your ideas or motives for wanting some “lube on the inside”, but a night on the JWR certainly loosens me up:laugh:
castrol R30 was the pooh back in the day. i was never allowed to have a bike as a tacker (hence my poor riding abilities now), as my dad was/is scared of bikes. howevewr all my mates that had bikes ran the stuff…and yes it smells heavenly, or phat as TB puts it.
i have asked the question on here before, if it is a good idea to run it in my 300 and the general answer was no. not a good idea.
you can buy it at supercheap for about $15 a litre. they sell the maxima caster stuff too i noticed, but as the oil i was getting was for the caves ride weekend, i thought id better get the good oil;)
it makes me wanna buy an old bike just to use it:laugh:
after ive finished changing frames on sammys bike i will throw some in it. i think her bike still has the same oil in its bottle (its not premix) from when it was new….in 1989!!!
its only done 863.2kms (i just looked…Brrrr, its cold out there)
and i cant remember ever putting any in:unsure:
but smoke, it does when its running.a mate of mne who used to race dirt and road before a back injury tells me a couple of drops of peanut oil in a 4T makes the same smell. maybe give that a try, it cant hurt.
July 16, 2009 at 11:03 am #144052I got no intention of tryin` it Spidy,,,,,
Just curious about the Wank Factor, that`s all:P
