AnonymousWhat a weekend! There was little of eveything…..weather wise at least:P We had hard rain, drizzling rain, rain that hurt your face, fog, overcast sections and even a ray of Sunshine on the back half of day 2
I’ll do my list of memorable moments and as always in the best order I can remember them. Some might not be totally true and a figment of imagination as day 1 my brain was frozen to the sub-critical point of near death and day 2 my brain felt like it was about to blow up from my usual over indulgence of alcohol (loose unit just isn’t the word). Anyway, here we go:
• Arriving at TB’s in torrential rain to discover that the beers he has been looking after for me for several months had been given away and I was down to the last 2!
• Watching RacyTracy and KillerKylie walk into the server carrying 20 fuel cans then driving back to TB’s with them sat on their laps
• Menace’s little bit of bumfluff on his face
• Being woken up at 4:15am Saturday morning by TB
• Driving to the start point of the ride in the torrential rain.
• Setting off in the torrential rain.
• Riding down the slippery windy hill in the torrential rain
• The torrential rain.
• Wishing I had a jacket that repelled water instead of dribbling it down my forearms and back.
• Choppper and his guns – Des and Wes. How does always smell so good:P
• Crash’s supreme effort to check the depth of the river stripped down to his jocks!
• Being abducted by aliens.
• Dr D’s attempt to cross said river at 30Km/h. I don’t know what was going through his head!
• Seeing Jenolan Caves, it was a great place, will deffo be going back to do the tourist thing.
• Eagle’s crash on the way down to the caves, locked up straight through a corner and into a fence!
• Crash’s 46Km round trip in the cold by himself to go and change the support vehicle location – a major effort indeed.
• The slippery singletrail just before we got to the Hampton pub.
• The hot shower sat the pub – how good was it!
• Boulder and Eagle’s very well deserved Old Bull of the year awards.
• The pool competition and the laughs we had at the pub. MickG and Supervroom were funny blokes.
• The unanimous decision to rename Supervoon and call him Superunit
• Too many beers and Vodka’s at the pub and the shenanigans at the pub that I’m happy I don’t remember
• The aliens coming back and talking to me about the correct type of pastry used to make croissants.
• The phsycadelic spinning paint job someone did to my room whilst I was drinking beer in the pub.
• Missing breakfast in the morning – bad move.
• The slippery single trail leaving the pub.
• Overtaking Menace through a puddle and absolutely soaking him.
• Feeling bad about overtaking Menace through a puddle and absolutely soaking him. He was drenched and had his jacket partly undone.
• My attempt to get the Wheelie of the weekend prize in front of Menace and Superunit.
• The lack of rain.
• Having to go back the starship to get my wallet.
• Chris’s wipeout on the slippery little sucker of a hill.
• Getting roosted by Dan D when he overtook me and Tiny.
• Menace roosting the hell outta me at least 4 times when I was behind him and he was ‘testing’ the acceleration/rock throwing capability of the 570 Berg.
• Rounding a corner and seeing a man down with looked like a serious crash. Finding out that it wasn’t anyone in our group. The guy had a suspected broken ankle. I hope he’s okay, hopefully he will join and let us know how he went.
• Wombeyan caves and the pretty colour trees.
• The scenic countryside on the way back to the cars.
• The jacket that Jeffro had lent me for the day – thank you, it was a big help
• The D’s for helping jump start my car – again….
• Saying goodbye to everyone and heading home.
• Macca’s……mmmmmmmmm….Thanks to TB and Crash for leading and to all those who swept for the weekend. Thank you all for turning up and the laughs that we had. Thanks to Menace for saving my bacon and sorry again about making you wet, it was too good an opportunity to pass up
Special mention to Scotty for his commendable effort to get there, it’s a shame you couldn’t make it.
See you all on the next ride…

I forgot to say Thankyou too Boulder for cleaning my goggles at one of the corners. I think the most difficult aspect of the trip was not being able to see well most of the time. In fact I found out on the way back that the road that we initially headed off on (Wombeyan Caves Rd?) actually had some really severe drop offs over the side and I didn’t actually see that on Saturday morning. I didn’t realise that until Sunday afternoon and now I feel a little bit sick about how fast I was actually going along that road on Saturday morning. I had no idea. It wasn’t until the Sunday afternoon when DanD nearly ripped my head off telling me to stay away from the edges that I actually looked and went ‘Oh fiddlesticks!’. Scary stuff.

AnonymousAlso, Happy Birthday Crash for yesterday. Eagle told us on the way home that it was your birthday and I felt horrible that I didn’t wish you one on the day. Sorry about that.
I hope it was a memorable one for you.May 25, 2009 at 3:51 am #136223KylieD wrote:

There is a lesson in that for us all Kylie whether we are on the bike or not.
Thanks for reminding me:)

Anonymousour obt crew of the year
sir boulder
and
sir eagle
Old Bull of the year 2009 – Boulder
Boulders nominations included the following; unassuming, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, co-operative, not a ‘big head’, sweeps, fixes bikes, gives out fuel and generally a top blokeRunner Up for Old Bull of the year 2009 – Eagle
Eagle’s nominations included the following; if people take time to read his post he is fairdinkum, and always makes new oldbulls welcome. takes the piss a bit and gives a bit, is keen to participate in rides and organizing, not to mention the 3 he got to sign up after his trip to Nundle and he never even had his bikeOne of the things that made this seem so right is that both Boulder and Eagle secretly nominated each other
Boulder won a set of Pivot Pegz and Eagle a set of electronic goggles supplied by Mud n Tar and some Belray product supplied by Battyes
