Talk about an epic weekend on trail bikes, 11 local Tamworthian’s all met at the servo just north of town and convoyed our way over to the second best riding grounds in the world.
:cheer:
The trip over was as funny as f#c* , apparently you shouldn’t race a ambulance whilst towing your trail bike ..
The convoy all arrived at the turn off from the highway to the camp site in dribs and drabs so we decided to wait until all the cars were together, the turn off has a nice set of drop pit toilets that just welcome the weary busting traveller. Gero decided that he would go and utilise these nice amenities, it was during his visit to the crapper the rest of the crew decided that we would continue on unaware Luke was busy on the throne. :pinch: :pinch: :pinch: :pinch: I kid you not it was not until we got to the camp ground ( 20 ks from the shitters) that we realised Gero was not there helping stack the fire wood . :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:    Mattyv thought it would right neighbourly to drive back and pick him up..
This weekend was going to be a cracker.

Once we put our guts back in where they belonged from laughing 👿 👿 it was time to pad up and head out for the mandatory Friday reccy ride. The trails were dusty  and apparently visibility was low if you were back in the pack a bit i had no issues up front.
80 odd ks later it was beer oclock
and the festivities got under way. I will leave this part of the report up to the others, i was laughing to much to remember it all, I just know this mob were on fire and we were having a blast. This is what trail riding is all about in my book.
Saturday to come.
Cheers Boony

RutsMay 27, 2014 at 9:43 am #256995What an unreal weekend!
Friday
0700 depart Tamvegas
0800 bacon egg roll and beer at Walcha
0900 gero left in shitter while we head to camp
0930 the rest of us piss ourselves laughing at germs expense while Matt heads back to find him trudging along the trail with the laughter of an RTA crew who have worked out what’s happened ringing in his ears
1000 gero tries to kill us all
1030 Polly arrives complaining his camp is not set up properly and the hookers are missing
1100 11 riders saddle up to start the ride with a run up kokoda our favourite track right out of camp
1130:10. I forget the slippery bank on the way out of camp and bin it
1130:20 riding startsBoony led most of the way as we ran all our favourite trails on our way south to look for Boonys long lost trail. We ran a heap of trails and pocked around looking for likely trail openings but to no avail Didn’t matter though we were having a ball. As we were heading back to camp the long way I spotted a gap between two trees and headed off to see where it went – which was downhill. Worse still was at the bottom of the hill was another trail and worse still the trail matched exactly Boonys description of the trail he had ridden years before. Obviously no one else had found it either but after going back to get the mob we rode its whole length and its a ripper.
We left our new trail behind and headed for the original valley of doom which given the dry weather was more speedway than doom. Nothing like 9 trail bikes on full noise for 8 km of closed off Forrest trail with only a few logs and holes to dodge. The trees were a blur and the smiles wide and eventually gero and sweep mal turned up to join us. Beer was called and we headed back to camp via a quick run down the big hill climb/ descent behind camp.
Everything started to get a little wild from here and between the exploding dunnies, volcano fire pit ouzo and some really nice food the boys were on fire. I could hardly breathe with all the laughing. Oddly though most of us went to bed before midnight and slept really well.
Saturday
It was going to be hard to beat Friday, but when Damus came into camp at 100kph with his bike upside down in the back of the ute we knew we were off to another great day. Once Scott’s joined us we went off with Boony leading us on a 15 km warm up out to the highway before heading back to the start of our epic singles loop. I took the lead and spent the rest of the day trying to keep in front of the mob. It’s a great days ride when you find yourself racing your mates on singles, big up hills and along closed off Forrest trails and even down an overgrown valley of doom4. Sensational days ride with great experiences, even managed to stop the bike from 50 km using only my nose and a jungle vine.
One large hill turned out to have been washed out badly and poor old gero was talking Chinese by the time he got up which was strange because he has never spoken Chinese to me before. We headed back to camp using every single I know and it was a blast, Cells really is trail bike heaven. Saturday night managed to get even wilder than Friday which I would never have thought possible. So many explosions laughter and discussions of midget porn topped off by the video at the start of this thread.Sunday was a day of leisure with a short tourist ride before heading out to gingers creek for a mega burger before heading home.
Just a great weekend which will enter into legend thanks to a great group of blokes.
May 27, 2014 at 10:10 am #257002Thank god for ride reports  I don’t remember a thing
Here is that hill that turned Gero into a chinaman   :laugh:I do believe the boys behind me were zig zaging each other all the way up after I made some elbow room for my self  dam it had some ruts.
