the headers on my road bike were really looking sad so i got them ceramicised…this process is a real altenative to plating and comes in flat black or frosty silver…i’d had a 525 done previous and was really happy with the result..cost $200 for the twins and 525 was $80 for single header but that was a few years back…hope the pics work

did u have to clean it first get all the dirt off it or that part of the cost

i dont know T.B. the 525 was really easy to keep clean…i just washed the dirt off…no polishing, just wash…with the road bike the pipe may suffer from higher speed peppering and most TDM owners fit a fender extender too….the TDM pipes blue differently due to 270 degree firing order and i cant live with that..ceramic dosent change colour (ever) they’re really quite boring, they dont rust either, hopefully theycan withstand the grit blasting from the road but meanwhile they look heaps better than before…russ

no whamy…took them in dirty and rusty as in pic….i think they get sandblasted then the stuff is baked on…saw a guy picking up a set of extractors when i went in and WOW were they nice…i’m thinkig about getting expansion chamber done on gasgas but maybe later….BTW G.F. paid as they were birtday present :woohoo:

no not if you use steel wool(not the stainless stuff that does not rust) it will polish it up .i got a roll from a paint store cheap but the soapy ones at the supermarket work

My xr was filthy when I bought it the headers were caked on with rust and baked on mud I used a wire brush that you put on the drill it took a bit of time and then good old wd40 to stop shit from sticking to it the pipes changed colour to a yellow bronze like colour but I can live with that my mate reconds I have too much time on my hands thats because he only wan’ts to ride every 6 months :(

My TK pipe has the ceramic coating from the back of the exhaust to the join with the original header pipe and doesn’t look to have changed in the 3 years I’ve had it. It wouldn’t get the same heat or impacts from gravel that a header pipe would though
