WE discussed where the first run should be and decided the river flats at Moose’s place would be a great place to do the test runs. The reason being, that there are plenty of places to land the Westpac chopper.
January 30, 2010 at 11:24 pm #169606Maybe you should get Clarkson & the other nutcases from Topgear to do the first few runs then
February 3, 2010 at 11:05 am #169607Farking Honda, 2 float valve assemblies cost me $135 from Honda Australia. Grrrrr. Then after rebuilding the carbys and attempting to install them I cut the O-ring on the linking fuel pipe, only after attempting to install the carbies about 20 times, I knew there was a reason I always hated Hondas, lol
CHarleyFebruary 3, 2010 at 7:34 pm #170214Now now Charlie. Sit back and take a chill pill…… Hondas are great pieces of machinery. You had three hondas on your driveway on Saturday that were still hot from a 160km ride.I bet there isn’t one drip of oil on your drive. You wouldn’t get that from that other brand of bike that you are so fond of !!!
I will admit, when I looked at the carb arrangement on the VT, I thought to myself “that looks like a barrel of laughs to remove and re install” :S
Is it just a simple O ring you require? Or is it some special one?

Speaking of oil, have you changed the oil in it? Or are you gunna run it with the 10 year old stuff that is in it? Bearing in mind the thing red lines at 13,000rpm and knowing you will have it on the limiter, it might be an idea to have a look at that.
February 4, 2010 at 2:22 am #170222Its a honda
you dont change the oil you just keep topping it up. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

secondly, Mick I’m hell impressed TWO Mates, you’re one up on me now.just wondering out loud Charley, that Comstar rim, will it take it? as we used to rip the rivets out of them in the drags on a CB750FII, and regularly wrecked them on the road too.

Bruce ceeAt their best Bruce, they only punch out 40 hp (30 kW). A bit different to the beasts you were dealing with.
February 5, 2010 at 8:37 am #169608OK, I almost like Honda again, after leaning against a tree for 10 years and sitting out behind my shed for 2 years, (filling the front cylinder full of water), I rebuilt the Carbies and the bike runs like a top, sounds great and with a bit of coaxing the clutch works perfectly. So I drained the oil and now I can roll it around on the shop floor and finish the TIG welding(I don’t wanna pull the engine) After that I will eliminate the unwanted wiring and if everything goes to plan next weekend (Feburary 13th or 14th) I will give it a test run on council land out behind my place. Oh yea, the throttle cable was too short to reach the new handlebar position but my neighbor was standing there and quietly solved that delima when he said, “Why don’t you turn the carbies around” Problem solved. It’s good to have an extra set of eyes once in a while, the down fall is all the neighbors keep showing up with beer, and that tends to slow things down somewhat, but it keeps the cost down, because I don’t have to buy beer:) So far the bike has cost $200 in parts and materials and $100 in beer, oh yea, and a $150 bottle of Argon that the misses found out about today because the Postie delivered the BOC bill, on a postie bike, see, I knew there was a reason I hate Honda. lol
February 8, 2010 at 9:27 am #169609All done and ready for the test ride on saturday:) I’ll post the video:)
