I will admit,if Boony had posted his enquiry in the tech help section where you aren’t allowed to put stupid answers, I wouldn’t have posted the daisy chain pic.But here, he is fair game.

I always run the steel sprockets,on an XR you don’t feel the weight difference.

Boony, steel will last but an alloy sprocket will weigh 60% less, I have weighed them.
Look at the DID X-ring chain too, they have a fair bit less resistance to movement, and they come in gold colour which really suits the DRZ.

IIRC they’re a two piece rear with alloy centre and steel teeth. You could also point out that rotating mass has a much greater affect than sprung mass.

From what I’ve read Supersprox are only really second to chain gang and from what I understand they dont make their own anymore so sprox are good to go ;)

I have only ever bought one sprocket and chain for my bike and that was to replace the Supersprox I had on there for over 5,000Km’s. It only destroyed itself beacuse my chain was so rooted the rollers had come off and wore the sprocket out even more.

I got a new chain and supersprox combo for the Orange ride however long ago that was. I also got an O ring chain which seems to be holding up fine.

I’ve got a DID X-ring chain that is not impressing me one little bit, no lube left in the rollers, stretches like a yoga guru, yet they have always been the best in IMO, maybe I got a Dud or someone is making ripoffs and i bought one from the bloody dealer at full price too…. :(

Hardened sprockets & good quality O-ring chain as TB said save you money overall.
