Hi All, Especially Green Owners as it is a green orientated question,
Tinkering with the KLX this morning, filters, oil, chain clean etc. Decided to change front sprocket from 14 to 13T but can`t get the nut of the shaft. Is this a rattle gun job ???
Or should I be trying to get it undone with the chain still on therfore liked to the rear wheel ???
    Cheers

    Thats one way.
Another is to stick a steel par between the rear sprocket and swing arm – this does not work with an alloy sprocket and I would not recommend it.
The best way is to make a special tool.
Take about 8″ of 520 chain – old stuff is OK. Using a 1/4′ bolt, attach it to about 2 foot of strong open link chain. Wrap the short length of chain over the top of the front sprocket. stretch the open link chain over the rear wheel spindle. You will notice it is hollow. Stick an 5/16 (8mm) bar through the chain and into the rear axle.
The front sprocket will be held tight no matter how much torque you apply to the nut.
reverse the process to install – the chain goes under the front sprocket this time.

I tried it on a new Yamaha. Spent ages (it seemed) in the end gave up and suggested a rattle gun, which I do not possess. What a PIA!

    HA HA HA,
It is a PIA job, but I did it easily in the end with a large driver jammed under swingarm to lock everthing up.
Even got a socket to keep from the father in law that fits, as he had two:)
Anyhow as I said in otehr post , thanks to the guys on this forum cause I would have dicked around for ages without their input :) :) :)

I’ve had a crack at a 12 – 45 on the Te 610, wow..front tyres last forever. Thought that having the front Kick up in 4th – 5th gear changes was a tad irresponsible, so now i have the 14 – 45 back on. lol. I want a 13 and 15 now… DRZ riders, have any of you had issue with the c/s getting chewed up? I hear that red Loctite maybe the Ideal fix? Curious to hear replies on this as i have a few mates that i try to link up with that ride em.( I dont ask them as they’re not altogether mechanical. eg. can spell spanner, not identify from screwdriver.)
