Here’s a little more incentive to check it Mick………..thanks to all the “sky’s falling, planet’s cooking, ice is melting” panick merchant tree huggers, you can’t (or soon want be able to) buy the old style element type system!!!!! You’ll have to replace it with a ‘heat pump’ type unit which costs mega bucks (not the $1000 or so)

I think its all a plan to get you to spend your hard earned dollars.
Most of the the “green” solar hot water heaters still have a separate tank with a standby heater element in it for when the sun fails to shine. A lot of the tanks for these systems are stainless instead of copper or glass lined but still have a limited life?? So I think the old HWS tanks as we know them will still be available for old installations etc where it is just not practicle for clean green energy. Oh, sorry, but these Greeny F*** W***’s are not practical so who knows what will happen in the future :(
My thoughts and I have been known to be wrong before

27mm was my rheem anode. Just needed a ratchet.

27mm not to bad. 1/2″ drive my short breaker might do it, thanks. Don’t forget to release the water pressure and turn the power off :)

The life span for a tank that has its anode replaced every 2yrs would be about 20-25yrs,leave it any later it will probably last about 10yrs.
An 8yr old anode could fall to pieces when trying take it out a 10 yr old anode would have fallen to pieces anyway.
Then it sit’s rusting at the bottom of your tank and every time you run a bath it will come out a rusty colour that could be mistaken for piss and the girls hate that
so you will probably have to buy a new one tank anyway. 😆
As a plumber i know this and have to replace 10yr old tanks all the time which is good for me so don’t tell every one  cheers

Could be the difference between getting away for the weekend or being stuck at home with no hot water and a $1000 bill for a new service. Make sure the wife see’s the old one and knows how good you are :) . String the job out from 5 minutes to 30 minutes or so with a magazine if your toilet is in the same location as the hot water service.
