Well Chop chop is still resting from his Capertee crash, so what better to do than duck out buy a set of Talon hubs on SM Pro rims. As I am using his bike on my next ride he bought them and a new Dunlop 952 for me to fit, looks sweet !!

They look sweet! Nice to know you have a new tyre to roost me with TB! Why are all the pictures dated 21 months ago? Just got some new batteries for your camera?

Some CRF450X mods I found/stole from another site.

There is a pink wire that goes to the CDI,if this is cut the bike will rev 500 revs higher.
It may also slightly advance the ignition, not sure though.
The CRF450 muffler will bolt straight to an X, you may have to go to a bigger main jet though.
A slightly rich main on CRF and CRFX make the midrange punch much stronger.
CRF450R valve recession was cured in 06 but if you are replacing the valves a good tip is to use stainless steel valves from the TRX,they last a very long time and you won’t notice any difference unless you ride professionally.

Also here is one for you TB….

The CDI from an XR400 will fit the XR650r,it gives 2 extra degrees of timing at idle and revs out to 9300 where stock is 8250.

    Nice work Mick,

As far as the valve thing goes, yes the TRX quad steel valves are good for trail riders, but dont cut the pink wire because the steel valves dont like to be rev’ed I have heard from people deep in the know.
The valve recession is best cured not so much in 2006 but more so if you fit a NEW PRE OILED air filter everytime (supercheap auto $14.95 each) GHR’s thought is that you wash your filter how ever you do, then soapy water etc, rinse and let it dry. They said if once dry you tap it on a sheet of glass fine dust will fall out!
As far the XR 400 CDI goes two things why would you want to advance your timing at idle and rev a big piston up and down any harder ( Bana has blown his DR up twice reving the pick handles out of it, sounds great banging the limiter but its a costly exercise )
I have a vortex that is set 8000 rpm, and you get an extra button in the cockpit to play with

    Nice work Mick
