Since I had Chrissy day off for the first time in years we decided to go for a ride. Packed the little esky with 1.5kgs of prawns and a couple of beers each, strapped it to the bike and headed of to a place called Dunns Swamp.

Dunns Swamp is a camping area on a small lake about 20km east of Rylstone. We headed up a track beside the railway line that had many small gutters across it from all the recent rain and a few deep puddles to keep the toes cool.

We came to a small steep down hill that had a 12inch step into an angled rut with some large loose rocks to knock you off the bike. We had a good look at it and decided not to risk injury today. So we back tracked a bit and took another track out to the main road. A small section of tar and back on the dirt and into Capertee.

We turned off at Capertee and headed down the Glen Davis rd. This drops down into a big open valley that gets hot. Temperature at Capertee was 24 degrees and down in the valley it was 29. This road is mainly tar now to the tee intersection where it turns to dirt and stays like that for a while. It’s all open wide road with really nice views of the escarpments.

At the camp area we picked a table next to the water. I had a pair of boardies on under the ride pants. Striped down to the boardies and went for a swim. Had a big feed of prawns and a couple of beers. Layed around for a while and had a couple more swims then packed up and headed home. Used the main tar roads going home as we were both tired. 260km for the day. I threw a new set of tyres on yesterday. Continetal TKC80 and they performed well. Not that I ride to hard but they handled better than the standard ones.

Not many pics just manily of the lake.

Thanks for the report, looks like a perfect day weather and all and not a relative in site :P Sal looked at the pictures and thats the place she was talking about so we must now go out there one day soon  Looks nice out there, Salina said she had seen it on the Sydney weekender or some program like that. Is there a pub or similar there?

The “small steep down hill that had a 12inch step into an angled rut with some large loose rocks” that you wrote about was that the we spoke about? Its about 500 metres past Kram crossing  (where Kram broke his wrist) If it is thats Chops hill where he broke his wrist  If its the same its a shitty hill on a ADV bike espically with a pillion The road you took out was the one they took Kram out to the Mudgee rd where Donna picked him up?

Thanks again and for the 20 questions

Yeah I heard it was on one of those shows. It’s very well set up for campers out there. There’s toilets but no showers that I could see. You can hire canoes to paddle around the lake. Fishing is suppose to be good there too. No Pub TB. Closest is Rylstone, about 30min ride away.

We didn’t make it to Krams ‘crossing’. It was a small ‘S’ bend hill that is normally ok but after all the rain a lot of the dirt had washed away. We sooked and bailed only to find a great track back to the main road and another one that we will go back to one day.

Ollie – I didn’t get nude but close. There was two Swedish couples with kids nearby so I didn’t want to excite the wifes too much with my supermodel like figure.
