O.K after the abuse / mud my chain copped on the weekend, I’m wondering should I remove the chain and give it a good clean.. I remember the old days we’d take them off soak them in petrol for a while, bit of a scrub and good to go.. I don;t know if this is good for an O-ring chain though, Any suggestions on the best cleaning technique for the chain.
Cheers
Chris.Just in case you missed it..
July 7, 2008 at 12:44 pm #105204Yeah, how do you clean the chain on a ditch witch? Telstra will put an optic fibre cable in that trench you dug!!!
Mick’s chain cleaning method is, wait until all the mud has dried and take it for a hot lap around the block dry. By the time you get home all the dried mud has flung off and she is good for some lube then. Works on O ring chains.July 7, 2008 at 12:46 pm #105210Good on ya Mick, I was thinking using some sort of cleaning solution to get all those pesky sand dirt particles out of the O-rings, your method certainly sounds effective.
Cheers

Nothing like a new tyre to get you outa trouble!!! I love new tyres because trouble kinda follows me around just of late.July 7, 2008 at 6:52 pm #105215:blink: Who can recommend a good rear tyre thats durable and will last a while was running intermediates milvilles? thinking of going Metzlers?
Any Mick that run up there on the 15th might be cutting it a bit short after the yellow mountain (first weekend in August) get together for both me and Gilli, and Richie gets back from Hawaii that week so he reckons he wont funds approval either. (such is life)………..but you never know. As for a ride next year and booking out a park you can book out the whole Binacrombi park down past Goulbourn. Never been there myself but she got cabins and stuff and it looks like its run by the Griswals. Anyway check it out http://www.binacrombi.com.au/activities.html

July 7, 2008 at 7:15 pm #105217Binacrombi park , nice thought, will check it out, I have been there its ok, I would do Louee and book the shearers quarters out there as it sleeps 40+ and there are more tracks I feel, but it may also be whoever does us the best deal?

It wouldnt have done 500kms.

I find that the Michelin’s are constant all the way from new to pretty worn, the cases are strong and the range is good. Down side is that they are dearer than other brands, but you get what you pay for and they are supposed to be the go for mousse tubes although we used them with maxis’s
There ultra heavy duty tubes are the best bar done!! Thats a fact!!
July 7, 2008 at 7:54 pm #105220Yeah thanks Trailboss, will catch up yellow mountain and it certainly wont be me coming in first as im not the fastest bloke on two wheels but will give it a go anyway. Going to get tyres tomorrow and running the heavy duty tube not ultra heavy ( they must be thick as elephant skin) I wonder has Chris got any stickers left .
Anyway thanks again.
