A top day, perfect weather and traction and awesome trails.
Six turned up Ev,DY,Nickj,Tdriver, mick and Nige77, we left Bello at 8.30 and headed for Never Never mostly on singles.

    003-2.jpg

We rode some local trails in and around the river, as well as a two storey gravel pile the councill left for us.

    009-2.jpg

We set a decent pace and were soon at the crossmaglen hills everyone made it and we headed for Coffs.

On the way down a steep rocky hill Nige77 came off and the massive weight of the DRZ landed on his ankle, he carried on untill Coffs but with lunch another 2 hours away and a lot of hard riding ahead the pain forced him to take the highway home.
We rode a sweet loop of single trail through the rain forest in the mountains west of Coffs. Then on the way back Mick pulled out as well, he headed home and the 4 of us headed back to sea level.

We had lunch then headed for Pine ck,along the way Tdriver puled the pin and headed home. The three of us rode a loop of mountain bike trails that are clean and fast with banked corners easily the best trail of the day. With one hour left we took the good way home, more singles and a decent little hill , local knowledge got me up, DY nailed it fist go ,but Nick fliped it centimeters from the top.Lucky for Nick WR owners are good blokes because it took three of us to pick the dozer up:lol:
We made it back at 4.30 on the dot.
Cheers to everyone who came , hope the ankle is OK Nige,
Props to DY who made it up everything first go and didnt drop it once,
    Cheers ev

Today was awesome , we covered just over 120km in 8 hours of riding with a moving average of 8 km/h which gives an idea of how technical this ride was

Thanks heaps to Ev for putting on another great singletrack day !!

Report to follow ……..I’m Buggered after that !!!

Sounds like a great ride EV.

An early start is the only way a ride like this is going to happen so I picked up DY4 (spud) at 5.40 and Otto and Nige made up our now small Yamba crew for a day at Bello.
We were suited up and ready to go by 8.30 and Ev lead us straight into the single track , within the first 5 minutes of Evs rides you know your alive and the pace was on from the start. Otto had a few dramas coming out of a creek in the first 30 minutes of the ride. We watched from the other bank and he spun out of control on the slick red clay and crashed. He tried to take off but had very little traction. We normally run 14psi on our local terrain so I thought I knew what the problem might be ;). Bigger al on a previous ride in Bello suggested 8-10psi and was bang on. Otto let some air out and was finding a heap more grip :)

We rode a great single and I was following Otto with spud behind when for no reason I could see I speared over the bars and head first into the floor, Spud reckoned it looked bad but I was fine and glad to get my off out the way early , now I could hook in :woohoo:

After some flowing singles Ev told us  ‘now we head up the mountain and the ride starts ‘ and he wasn’t kidding. Tight singles followed by never ending technical hills was to be the order of the day from now on. I was loving it and after the Noosa ride was keen to compare Coffs hills. A lot of the hills had peg deep 4wd ruts and picking good lines was essential. Top stuff !

Nige was sweeping and having a ball when an off on a snotty downhill ended his day,) sympathetic STM later asked if he got his skirt caught in his sprocket :D) but he did look like he was struggling to ride so he headed back to the cars on the tar.

Ev then upped the anti and threw some nasty short hills in the mix , Otto was lacking a bit of bike fitness and having to pick up his WRF took it’s toll and he had to bail out too.

The downhill Ev gave us before lunch was something else near vertical and maybe a km long , I was following spud and he had to stop when a stick got jammed in his front wheel. After that is bike fell over and flooded so he tried to bump start it down the hill, he freewheeled and picked up pace in no time only to go into a big tank slapper and bail off into the bush. That’s the only time I’ve seen spud come off , it was bloody funny and we laughed about it on the drive home :D

We made lunch at 2.30 and by 3.00 Tdriver decided he was done too , so it was just 3 of us left and Ev decided to push us at a cracking pace through possibly the longest section of polished singletrack I have seen , after 40 minutes of that and we were all pumped with a few cramps too.

Ev gave us the option to take an easy road back to the cars or do some more singles and a mother of a hill to finish. We took the only choice and were soon riding bog holes and rainforest singles to the foot of the hill. I would say this was easily a grade 5 and ruts everywhere. Ev went first and as he disappeared round the corner we could here the power being sucked from his bike , spud looked at me wide eyed , shrugged , laughed and went for it. I waited , but already knew spud would nail it first go. So I had a crack and tractored  my way to the top only to flip it on the very crest of the hill. Ev was laughing and only then told me that he’d flipped his bike in the same spot on his last 3 attempts. :D :D

We were soon back at the cars with grins all round , it was a great days riding and if anyone is in training for an enduro I think Ev would make a top personal trainer :D thanks again mate I had a ball !!
