As always , this event is the high point of the riding year not only for the riding, but the excellent organisation and the great people that travel to Coffs to make it such an enjoyable weekend
We got there on Thursday and Moto,Tom and me headed out for a quick loop to loosen up for the forthcoming rides :woohoo: lucky we did because we found that my suspension linkage was locked solid  Tom;s fuel line had a split in it  and Moto snapped the brake lever clean off of his Husaberg :S Faaark.
My linkage eventually decided to free off after riding through every waterhole/puddle I could find but we had done a very uncomfortable 40kshowever it stayed good for the rest of the weekend
.
While Tom and Moto did the trip into the bike shop on friday morning ,I went for a surf with STM,Nick,ChrisT and Scotts wife Elise who seemed to catch the bulk of the waves
The Friday arvo ride was a good warm up for the BIG one
and was enjoyed by everyone I spoke to, and with my rear suspension working good I was looking forward to the morning.
Way too many beers with Moto and Damo meant the start of the ride was a bit subdued :S , but got into it eventually and started to enjoy it more, the loop Scott & Nick had put together was top quality riding and by the time we got to No-line I was up for the challenge :PI loved it and once up there we quickly came to the widowmaker which was as grippy as I’v ever seen it and the majority of the group went up without too many drama’s :woohoo: A great effort from Marnie in having 2 goes at the widowmaker on her first look at the hill, and with the first attempt not being far from succeding :side: :side:
Trapeze was a great addition to the ride being trials type riding so I loved it :woohoo: :woohoo:
The pace seemed to get faster and faster as we headed back to the camp site and many duels were happening every time I stopped for my cornerman duties  saw a good one with Tom chasing a very quick Nato and another with Crash and TB knocking bars :woohoo: Nick did a great job keeping the crew going as it was quick
All in all another awesome Coffs ride
Many thanks to Scott,Nick for leading and organising and Spud and Deejay for sweepingNovember 26, 2012 at 10:30 am #232901fridaay arrived so off to coffs we headed, us being us,we arrived 20 minutes late for the friday ride, not all was lost though, Buzz,Ranger rick and myself padded up and then hit the beach for a ride up to the Amble Inn to blow the top off a frosty one. The beer was cold and the beach was tuff, it was high tide so the little 250s struggled a bit in the soft dry sand.
Friday night was pretty tame compared to past years,(we might be learning), i woke up Saturday morning feeling pretty good until I walk out of the cabin and felt the bloody humidity.
The ride was sweet and the last bit before the pub threw up a few small challenges for the first group through.
The afternoon ride was sweeeeeet, I had a bit of a play in the sweep role and there was not even a rock on the trail when I came through, I ask the boys to brake a bit harder through the corner as the berms where not quite high enough to rail them at speed. Thanks to STM,Nckj for organizing and leading the groups ,Thanks to DeeJay for sweeping, top job mate, and thank you to the guys who help me out when I had a bit of a soft c%^k moment and bung up me knee.Adam them drugs are greeeeaaaatt
The family and I stayed until late today (monday) and then headed home, what a great short holiday we had.
How good was it to catch up with everyone again.
Cheers

November 26, 2012 at 10:53 am #232841Cheers to everyone for making my first oldbull ride such a blast! :woohoo:
Thanks to STM and Nick for organising and showing me some excellent trails in my own backyard.
Looking forward to the next one :cheer: :cheer:November 26, 2012 at 11:49 am #232903Thanks STM and Nickj for leading a great ride. I had an absolute ball.
Thanks also for the sweeps for their contribution ( you too Boony) and for everyone that came and made this weekend what it was.
Well done and congratulations Adam on your award. It was well deservedBuzz
November 26, 2012 at 12:48 pm #232842I’ve got some vids sorted
We’ll start with Sunday cause that’s the way it’s worked out
It was a cracker of a ride. The pace just seemed to get faster and faster :woohoo:
Shame about the KTM300’s rider who’s name escapes me  I’ll blame it on the bourbons
He hit a stick jutting out on the track and it took him out
He hurt his back a bit and decided better ride home sore than continue and ride home in an ambo :pinch:
He did do the Old Bulls thing though and the stick is no longer there
but next time use a saw
There were some other minor mishaps along the way some of which I got on video :cheer: and it just added to the enjoyment of the ride
STM sure knows his way around and the trails were excellent :woohoo:
We did 52 km and we were back by 11:15 and you all know the trails we were riding
but you can watch them again anyway

It was a awesome effort by marnie on the widowmaker..she had two cracks at it and nearly made it
on her first go…
Thanks again to everyone who came long distance and made this weekend so much fun.STM and NICKJ…Thanks for all your hard work to make this happen.

November 27, 2012 at 12:23 am #232909I wont rattle on about what a great weekend it was because the thread title says it all, you shoulda been there!
A big thanks to Scott, Nick, Spud and DJ for leading sweeping and organising the masses and to everyone else for making it what it a great weekend on the trails.
Saturday morning was a blast except for the trapeze section where I just about hit the wall. It was far better going back after lunch after a bit of a rest and with the track a little clearer. It was a nghtmare at times wit the vines catching on the helmet camera, (you will see what I mean when I get the video sorted. The rest of Saturday arvo was great as well though I was starting to get cramped up towards the end.
Sundays ride wasanother cracker with some nice flowing trails and a few challenges along the way and was a perfect way to end the weekends riding.
I didn’t get many pictures as I was either having too much fun to stop or at other times too worn out to biother getting the camera out.
but here a couple I did get. This where Polly’s run at widowmaker came to an end.
And a couple from earlier in the day
Boony
and maybe Fordy

November 27, 2012 at 10:18 am #232910Here is Trapeze, definately not a good place to have a camera mounted on top of your helmet.
Oops, I will try that again later, I accidentally uploaded the full 11 minute version which will bore you to tears.

It took you 11 minutes to get through Trapeze? Man you need to get yourself an XR650.

Actually Mick that was only through to the downed tree we had to clear. I can almost guarantee that it was much clearer to get through by the time you got there.
November 27, 2012 at 11:20 am #232844Yep what a great weekend, the best ride i have been on so far. A big thanks to STM, Nickj & everybody that make it all work so great.

November 27, 2012 at 11:33 am #232923Well, I’m completely and sufficiently jealous now after reading the whole thread!
It was minus 5 degrees here in Beijing this morning, with a maximum of 6 degrees during the daytime (for probably one or two minutes only) … why does work have to get in the way of a good time!!
Glad to hear it went great, hope to catch you all, and the Coffs guys especially, on a ride soon …. as soon as I get the *%ck outta China that is.
