October 31, 2012 at 9:19 am #230887I’m keen for this ride but don’t pencil me in just yet. I will need to attempt some shift shuffling at work before I get to sample the best of the beautiful north coast.
I’ll shout the latte’s if I can pull it off.

Latte’s available at Nymboida but I think a beer will taste a lot better.

Good to see your coming Gaz
I have a spare bladder if you need extra fuel range

Come on TB whats this slanging off at ADV riders? and I dare you to make that comment to Jason Barrett.
At this stage I have Saturday off but due to be at work 6am Sunday. I may still come up and do a sprint home Saturday night but would prefer to stay for the shenanigans.

November 6, 2012 at 1:59 am #230888OK all.
Finally got a chence to post up.Sunday four of us started a pre-run of the ADV course. The weather was less than favourable but we decided to have a go anyway.
We started from Darlington park and headed for Glenreagh.A bit of overnight rain meant no dust so it was a dream run through there.
Once we left there we headed up into the clouds and ever deteriorating weather.By the end of Black Mountain road we were all half soaked so a beer at Nymboida was very welcome.
Sitting there having a beer the weather closed in even more to the point we could not even see the mountains that we were heading into.So with 1000m elevation still to climb and a quick look at the radar on the iPhone we decided to take the easy way out and slab it home.
So this week end I will be going for a drive to check out a few sections that may be a bit suspect and to sus out fuel availability.
Early next week I will have more info so stay tuned.
November 6, 2012 at 4:02 am #230889Good Work Maso
Shame about the wet weather,, we could have done with some of it on our ADV 2 day nav ride (it was dusty as hell) :laugh:Keep us informed mate on the fuel situation please ,,,
Not long till lift off on the nort coast adventure :woohoo:Cheers
November 11, 2012 at 2:08 am #230890Sorry guys I won`t be attending ,,,, Work stuffs it up again
This has been on the cards for a few weeks now, just happy I got to do the ride last week to Bathurst ,,,,Cheers
November 14, 2012 at 9:13 pm #230891I managed to do a pre run of the posted course on Saturday.
I have to admit it took a lot longer than I expected as it was 319Km of which only 45Km was tar and several sections were fairly slow going. Therefore I have come up with a second option apltly named “Soft C%ck Route” whick cuts out 120Km of dirt and repleces it with 46Km of tar making total of 245Km being 91Km Tar and 153Km dirt.
Link to Goggle maps here. http://goo.gl/maps/RKkH4This option would be to go direct to Tyringham from Nymboida cutting out the Old Glen Innes road section.
Option 1 will mean less and shorter stops as well as keeping a pretty good pace to get us back at a reasonable hour.
Option 2 will mean we can take it a bit easier with more frequent stops ( read stops as beer stops ) and no real need to rush.
Intend to leave at 8.00am on Sat morning same as the single track riders and back at about 4.00 or 4.30pm which still gives us some daylight to play with if we have any problems.
The shop at Tyrringham say they will have fuel available for us as well as they are a bottle shop and do sandwiches. So if we go for option 1 this would be our lunch stop at 197Km from start.
Option 2 would put us at Ulong RSL Club for lunch with bistro meals but no fuel. Fuel will be available at Nana Glen 206Km from start. Possibly also at Lowanna 190 from start
Who will have a problem with Fuel because I know I can do either option without needing fuel and still cary 7.5L anyway so would be happy to share.
Now what I need to know from you who will be riding is do you prefer option 1 or 2.
Post up and let me know what you think.
November 14, 2012 at 10:56 pm #230892Hi Maso,
Thanks for the update. I would prefer a leisurely iide rather than a mad dash to get back to the start point by a particular time. That said, I’m happy to go with the majority on this. As far as fuel is concerned, I will fill my bladder and strap it to the DR.

November 15, 2012 at 11:40 am #232493Hi Maso
I would prefer the bigger loop as its a long way to come for 1/2 a ride.
Providing you think its doable in the time and the groups not too big it should be OK.
There’s plenty of time for drinkin at the end of the day :woohoo:
If you have the route on a GPS file you could send us the route before hand to load on our GPS’s or are we just doing the cornerman system?Mickp
