We will be going down it not up it so don’t worry Corey, you won’t have to ride 15 bikes up.
STM
I wasn’t going to let on we were going down it, thought it would be a nice surprize !!  :woohoo:
One of the last pieces of the planning puzzle came together yesterday. Nickj has plotted his loop on his Garmin and he feels confident with it. Considering it is not his backyard he rode the whole thing as my lead and nailed it. It is 55km and includes open dry ridge lines, deep dark jungle, flat fast beach, buffed flowing singletrack and erosion mound madness.
Now he is sorted I can concentrate on Friday ride. I have begun to plot it in my head and I will go out over the next week and start to string it together.
Friday will be a 30km warm up and both loops on Saturday will be 55km.
If you in two minds about a new back tyre for the ride my suggestion would be to fit one. Who knows what the weather will be like but the gullies are generally soft and can get greasy it is a safer bet to have decent rubber.
Intermediate compounds work well and I have been enjoying the Scorpion MX Extra.Other good options are the Dunlop MX51 and if money is no issue and you don’t care about wearing a tyre out in three days then go the S12. They stick like stink to a dog.Any questions just PM and I can’t wait to host you all in my backyard.

October 31, 2010 at 1:46 am #189877The loop that STM has put together for me to lead is one of the most varied and fun loops I have ridden , I just hope I can remember all the junctions !!!
We were trying to bypass a 3 km section of bitumin that takes us to the lunch time meet area ( pub ) and thought we had cracked it along a nice twin track, we could hear the road but their was a bit of an obstacle to overcome, I looked on my GPS and in large black letters it said ‘SWAMP’ !! We decided to have a crack but after around 200m of water of varying depth and getting covered in some really smelly swamp we decided it probably wouldn’t be the best thing to take 15 riders through before we walked in the pub!! It was bloody funny trying though !!
Scott has worked really hard on this ride and I think he was a bit concerned about the bitumin before lunch, to be honest the trails are fairly physical and great fun and I reckon we will be glad of the rest !
October 31, 2010 at 3:04 am #189886Nick, the nundle ride had about 14ks of tar, 7ks to get to the riding grounds and the same to get back, I would worry about it to much, you could call it the adventure ride part of the ride….
Boony
November 6, 2010 at 7:03 am #189888Any bets on the weather for this one?????

There it is
November 6, 2010 at 7:35 am #190243I went out to do some trail work today and it was pissing rain and windy and it was still good riding. Add 29 other Bulls and it will be good fun either way.
Pack the safety glasses in case, mount some new rubber and count the days.STM

Boony,
If you’ve now jinksed this ride (like you have done with every other ride you make a weather comment on), You’ll be frequently wearing simulated meteorite showering at every possible opportunity courtesy of every other rider whilst touring the Coffs Countryside

Don’t worry Boony. The 650 guys will probably be late anyway. Old mate farmer will see them and think they are contract ploghers are in town to plogh the paddocks before summer and have them ploghing the top 40 ac before smoko.

WOW 140 michs, 115 hp, a gazillion flbs of torque and 2356 speeds between them. Look out Boony or they plough you right off the road at 2.2 km/h.
Mick is not included because he doesn’t have a HR(heavy ridgid) license and sucks at ploughing anyway.

And the reasons are???
November 6, 2010 at 8:30 pm #190255I think it is fairly safe to say it won’t be dusty.
Average rainfall on the Coffs Coast is massive by Australian standards and the bush is well evolved to deal with it.
As long as we don’t get so much that the creeks are in flood we will be fine.STM
