I was keen for a Sunday arvo group ride as I have mostly been riding my place solo and it seems like forever since I had the Yamba boys down.
I spoke to the Bucca boys and Macca during the week but they were busy, Rob400 was working but Nickj and Spud were keen as was the ever reliable Tdriver.
They all called me this morning as they wanted to check if I was still going out as it had been pissing it down in Yamba and in Coffs but 25 k’s north of Coffs we had not had rain for 24 hours. It seemed I was sitting under one of the only clear windows on the coast and I assured the boys that it would be fine and worth the drive.
Everyone arrived right on midday and the sun was out and the wind was strong which was a good thing as we had had plenty of rain earlier in the week and I could see the roadside puddles were drying fast.
I has the garage set up as a change room for the boys and as we got into our gear we knew it was going to be good out there. It would be boggy in the gullies but I had a 4 hour loop planned that would gives us a bit of everything.
In the time it takes Tdriver to smash three durries we were geared up and ready to roll.
A quick spurt up the highway, a left hand turn and our tyres hit dirt. It was wet on the flats but as soon as the trail kicked up it was primo. No dust and pretty grippy considering the amount of rain over the past fortnight.
My first trail was one that gets loose in the dry but loves as much water as you can throw at it and it was in primo shape. About a year ago forestry put a dozer down it as maintenance but by now it had grown back and the single had bedded in and it was in great shape. it is a trail i have ridden in many states but right now it is at its prime.
By the first regroup everyone was stoked and it set the tone for what was to be an awesome afternoons riding.

    To Be Continued.

When I say it was wet in spots it does not even compare to when you were up here mate. I have had drier surfs than that

What a top day B) Thanks heaps to STM for leading Tdriver for sweeping and Spud for chirping on in my ear all day :D :D

I had a ball and although wet in parts the Coffs trails are very hard to beat.
