May 12, 2013 at 7:59 am #241260Just had the day from hell, went to check the damage for this ride, after the big storm in march, unloaded, tyre was flat, pull it off, steel belting in tyre was snapped and had poked a hole in the tube bloody retread was so unbelievably hard to get on i snapped the belting.
Put the tyre back on drove home and put an old tyre on, went back couldnt get up the fist 30m too wet no tyre, detoured 10ks of highway got up there and the damage was insane and with no traffic for the last 2months the trails were terrible, cut about 20 trees in 1k, got the saw stuck 45min to get it out .
Dropped into a single trail thinking if i get stuck at least Ill have the chainsaw to make a way out, broke the chain on the next tree, had to keep going.
Got to a wet peice of shit hill covered in crap and a log across the top of it, had to cut a 2inch wide wedge with a handsaw and prize chips out with a tyre lever took 2 hours.
Went down the bottom to have another go battery was flat bike wouldnt kick over, another hour of kicking and screaming and starting to get late.
Luckily a local heard me carrying on like a pork chop and came down to see what was happening, i must have sounded angry because he brought his gun, he helped me up and showed me the easy home.
Net result cost me 200 bucks cleared 1.5kMay 12, 2013 at 8:21 am #241665Grade 5 ride and doing Grade 6 trail maintanance , sounds like your style mate

May 12, 2013 at 9:53 am #241672I don’t think many places escaped the storms in March Ev , some of our best trails have holes the size of a ute and chest high trees down. Everyone will understand and deal with whatever its like , that’s why we like trail riding mate , keeps you on your toes !!!
I can’t wait either way !!!! :woohoo:

May 19, 2013 at 8:37 am #241692Big thanks to Burnsey and Al we spent allday clearing trails there were trees every 100 mtrs for the first 3 hours and it didnt get much better.
If you like flowing 3rd gear singles with no ruts or obsticles you will hate this ride.
Al had a good view of me flipping it in 4th on a tar road, luckily the chainsaw broke my fall and the bike looks the same as it did before, just hope we dont get too much rain this week.May 19, 2013 at 8:57 am #242070You been watching Bob ride too much Ev. At least when he flipped it he wasn’t attached to a chainsaw.
