    when my bike is cold it don,t want to start i put new cold start plunger in as the old one was leaking made no difference once bike has run for a couple of minutes it starts first kick any suggestions please?:dry:

    yeh it does thats what i meant by kicking it over when its cold it winds over and over then i think i,m gonna flatten the battery

    I’m no expert Novice but I saw on tv one time where the guy was having the trouble starting his cold baike and someone told him to wind the throttle open slowly 3 times and try and it fired straight up. I think it may have een Charlie Boorman’s bike on Race to Dakar. I usually do that and it mostly seems to work.

    My Wr450 had a similar problem but after a service at the bike shop instead of my ussual half arsed effort in the shed it hasn’t done it since. When my bike is cold I just make sure that the choke is pulled out and the fuel is turned on B4 I put my gear on and it ussualy fires first press.

    I actually find on the 250 that winding the throttle quickly a couple of times whilst holding the electric button helps start it quickly, without doing this it seems to take ages.

    The electric leg on the WR is supposed to be used when the engine has already been run. You should start the WR from the kicker when cold.

    Where did you get this info from as I have read every owners manual my bike came with and I can’t find that info anywhere.

    I have heard a KTM salesman say the say thing, I thought its pretty common throughout the industry that the electric leg is called a restart aid, the KTM salesman said you should always kick start unless its a snotty hill or you are in a hurry, so I would agree with Ollie this time ;)

    The V word. What’s the top end history. How long since the valve clearances were checked? How old’s the plug etc

    Yeah thats so true, the 6 fiddys like a new plug and a valve adjustment every couple years and they start easier ;)

    Cant remember now The Wr is long gone. May have been a dealer or another forum. It was just something that I always did as well. Also the battery is not real big.

    Yeah none of the batteries are, ask Dan he has to kick his I think when its cold

    I think tight valves would cause hot start prob not cold just my 2c worth

    Seen 450’s finish the Condo 750 and Yellow Mountain and not start the next day cold (hey Factory Phil :laugh: ), and when we bought Chop’s Banana it was hot and started ok, but next day cold it was so hard to start :angry: , so I dont know Bull :huh:
