They operate tonight :blink:TB
My God
What a tough little Pom
Give him my regards and lend him your teddy bear TB for the operation.

October 18, 2010 at 9:28 am #189094Checked out the wear on my back tyre today.
The Pirelli MT21 had 14.5mm of tread depth on the centre blocks when I fitted it before the corner ride and it still has 10mm of tread left after 2300kms with about 900k’s on the tar and running about 20psi pressure.
Not bad running I thought

October 18, 2010 at 10:14 am #188743Sorry to hear about Nick.. Get well soon mate…
October 18, 2010 at 10:15 am #188744Well what an adventure..
First thanks to TB for organizing the event and for the invite to come along. Your a top bloke mate no matter what anyone says..
Thanks to Bollocks and Gaz the support gurus.. Your efforts were above and beyond and I was glad to have you guys there at the end of each day..
Thanks to Boulder my wing man who looked right after me the whole way.. A man of many patience.. I’m not sure if he ever gets angry..
Nick… Thanks for organizing the shirts and thanks for the support you provided.. I took it all in even if it seemed I didn’t at times……….
Thanks to Moose, Mick, Lotsa and Jeffro.. All the advice given was always spot on.. I hope you guys come again next year..
I suck at picture taking.. I got some shots but not as good as the other boys.. I must remember to pull the camera out more often.. My trip totaled according to Mr. GPS at 2752k with a moving time of 31 hrs and 25 min.. Stop time 23 hrs and 06 min and Moving average of 87.6 kph
I started the trip Saturday evening.. Gaz come around loaded me bike and gear around 4:30 pm and we were off to TB’s.. Upon arrival Nick and Moose were already there and stuff was laid out in an orderly fashion waiting to be loaded onto the trailer for Gaz to grab Sunday morning and cart to Condo.. The evening was relaxed and we drank some beer joked and poked fun at myself.. Salina made a great spag bol with some awesome garlic bread.. We checked routes loaded GPS’s and watched Dust to Glory.. We crashed fairly early and like everyone else I could not sleep sound.. Up every hour on the hour and finally went out at 4:00 am to find TB watching the tele..
Always smiling Moose..
Sunday morning was coffee, packing and ready to roll.. I think we departed around 5:15 am.. The first part of the ride was intense as the fog was thick and the air cold.. Mount Victoria was an interesting trek.. We rode mostly bitumen then met up with Mal 5.1 and his wife Donna and they led us down some dirt tracks onto Bathurst for Breky.. TB managed to dodge a rabbit, hit a walby and have bird fly right into his left side.. After Brecky we said our good byes to Mal 5.1 and Donna and we were off towards Orange.. A quik stop and hello to TB’s step fathers and then off towards Parkes..
Nick along the way I think near Orange..
The ride to Parkes was nice with some easy flowing dirt tracks.. We took a break and off in the distance was the Dish.. How cool was that..

Next off to Trundle to catch up with Jeffro and have a quick lunch.
Trundle Pub
Arrived at a decent time in Condo after 502k. Shortly after Mick and Lotsa showed followed by Bollocks.. The usual shenanigans took place.. I loaded the final GPS’s with the route and we had an awesome feed.. $20 for the room $10 for Dinner and $10 for Brecky.. How good was that..
Morning came quick and everyone was roaring to go…
Morning shot..
Nice flowy tracks and a little challenge along the railway line where TB went down..
First break
Second break near Ivanhoe I believe
The Support Gods prepping lunch
The gang at Ivanhoe while Nick was getting tended to
Break next to beer tree before Menindee
Camp 1 Menindee
After a good feed for dinner and brecky we headed off towards the SA border.. We started through a National Park that was a great run.. Sandy bits and hard red clay.. The Dust was horrible.. Sometimes it cleared quickly others it was thick and nasty.. I asked Boulder to back off further as I was having trouble breathing.. Gates and lots of Gates..
Break 1
The Troff
When we arrived at the campsite near Yunta Bollocks decided to hold an auction for the old abandoned Pub.. I won and bought it for $5k.. I plan to turn it into a Disco in the middle of nowhere.. Old Bulls can come for free..
Camp Krusty Disco
Morning after light rain which was constant
We rode back to Yunta to fuel and then we were off towards Broken Hill.. We started off on the bitumen then popped along the railway line for a short bit then met up with the Support Crew for a Beer Brecky..
Beer Brecky
A long run on the bitumen to get to the non slushy stuff and off onto the railway line to Broken Hill.. This was a kick ass run.. Single track, double track and wide open roads.. TB let me lead at one stage and I topped out at 135 and hitting small gullies at 100. The adrenalin rush was awesome.. When TB blew by me finally I must have gotten roosted a bit because when we stopped next I had a smashed headlight..
Some wild life
Break inspecting wild life.
We made it to Broken Hill and went straight for the pub for food and of course beer.. I had a coke and Fish and Chips.. I popped around the local bike shop looking for some rain pants as the ones I brought were shredded. I bought what I thought were some Dri-rider rally pants but turned out to be Nordics.. Everyone recommended returning them the next day as I would bake in them.. Oh well live and learn.. When at Yunta TB organized a Caravan Camping park with 2 adjoining cabins.. After unpacking and changing, I serviced my bike.. Changing Oil, Oil Filter and Air Filter.. This after 1697k so far.. The boys all went off to the Silverton Pub and I decided to do some tidying up on the bike.. Dinner was Pork ribs and Gaz’s mash. Mmm Mmm Good.
Morning came and again we packed and headed to Broken Hill.. I returned my pants and Jeffro got a chain.. We then hit the railway line again and headed towards Menindee.. What a bloody awesome ride.. I think this run was the best of them all.. It had everything and it ended with a kick ass challenging dual track Sandy bit.. What fun.. My response was a good ole sepo saying.. “Hot Digigty Dog”!!
Sandy Track with some beautiful flowers
We ended up back at Menindee and setup before the freak storm moved in.

Morning came and the great escape began.. Once on tar we headed to Menindee for quick brecky.. Next stop Broken Hill, Wilcania (shit dump) then Cobar.. Moose’s misses was generous to book us some accommodation.. It was nice to have a hot shower and dry off after 587k of shearing wind and heavy rain at times.. A good feed and good times at the pub chatting about the week and good times had.. I slept hard that night as the week was catching up with me.. Morning came and the decision was made to end the ride where we stood.. TB and Nick headed to Blaxland and Moose to Tamworth and Jeffro home.. Mick, Lotsa, Boulder, myself and the support crew went on to Condo.. The last 302k of the trip..
All in all it was the best time I ever had on 2 wheels and I’ll do it again, even if does rain and I have to suffer as the riding is just to dam good to not do..
Thanks for having me guys and I look forward to next year.

October 19, 2010 at 7:18 am #189114How is Nick going, have you heard?
October 19, 2010 at 7:32 am #189148Thanks for all your concern, but STM was right it’s just a soft pommie whinging about a little splinter
I had surgery yesturday but the doctor couldn’t get the peice of sleeper out as it was wedged under the tendon ( this explains my slight discomfort on the ride  )
I went to a foot surgeon today who after digging down about an inch managed to get the large peice out. He also had a good scrape around and found 2 more pieces floating around.
Anyway I’m home drinking a beer now and alls good !!
Here’s a pic after the first op!! ( I’ll never foot model again  ! )
