October 11, 2010 at 3:15 am #188783For anyone that has been following the spot tracker on this ride and has noticed that the boys seemed to have stopped twice for extended periods today. Here is the goss. The first long stop was at the Kidman Way intersection, where the boys waited for Bollocks in the support vehicle, who had a blow out on the trailer and had to fix it.
The other extended stop is in Ivanhoe,(they are still there as I type this. They are up at the Ivanhoe hospital getting Nickj’s foot looked at. Apparently TB binned the Tenere at 60kmh and in an effort to avoid hitting TB ,Nick went off road and hit a bush and cart wheeled the DRZ. All appeared OK except for a bent tank bracket on the DRZ, the boys got that fixed and got under way. At the lunch stop at Ivanhoe Nick was complaining about a bit of a sore foot when he noticed a sharp piece of railway sleeper protruding from his boot. From what TB told me it has gone through his boot and into his foot so whilst they are in Ivanhoe they thought the smart thing to do would be to get it cleaned up and looked at proper.
That is the story as it was relayed to me 20 minutes ago.
October 11, 2010 at 3:21 am #188711Shit,,,
Hope he (Nick) is ok  not too worried abot TB (he bins it all the time ) :laugh:Reckon TB would have been telling Nick that they could detour thru Kandos the get some of that magic “Harden the F#&* Up Powder”
He used that line on my when I injured my foot on the Hill End ride a while back
SERIOUSLY THOUGH, I hope it turns out good for Nick, it has been a damn long preparation & a long haul to get to Ivanhoe as it is,,,,,
Good Luck Nick

October 11, 2010 at 4:05 am #188800All seems to be OK and the boys are underway again, headed for Menindee.
October 11, 2010 at 6:55 am #188802We had a good ride on Sunday morning with the guys.
Donna and I met the guys just after 7am at Tarana and we headed out to Carlwood rd to O’Connell. Then onto Lagoon and Perthville and finaly into the back of Bathurst.
We gave them the race experience and took them right up to the gates to the track. There were race nuts everywhere  and coppers
. We headed down the main street while watching all the race goers walking up the hill to the track. We then went to the Panorama Hotel for breakfast. TB had the biggest breakfast I have seem in a long time. It even had a lump of steak on the plate  .
With everyone filled up we said goodbye and ride safe.
Donna and I then went of to Sofala for lunch via Hillend. We clocked up 300km for the day.
PS. Nick will learn just to run over TB when he comes off like the rest of us do. Sounds like they are all ok, which is good.

October 11, 2010 at 8:38 am #188817Just had a bit of a yarn to our fearless leader!
They went through to Menindee this arvo. They’re camping tonight.
TB says the Tenere is going really well…..it powers out of corners beautifully, it does the miles effortlessly, it’s handling like a train on rails…….however,
when it senses sand……it wants to take its’ bat and ball and go home!!!!!
So, he’s going to start to play with it a little. Try a few changes to try and get it to handle in the sand. The damper is not solving the problem like it usually does.
He’ll try moving the forks, play with tyre pressure, weight distrib. etc etc.Everyone is going well, no big dramas at present.
They’ll push on to Yunta tomorrow and then turn North up the track until mid arvo and find a camping spot!
Don’t forget to check the tracker through the day to see how they’re travelling……a great idea those things. (you could see today when they lost time a 2 or 3 places…..and then when communication allows, we find out that sure enough….Bollocks had a flat, TB/ Nick had offs and they went to Ivanhoe hosp.)
Til the next update

Next he might try a yacht in the Sydney to Hobart that does not like waves
It will be very interesting to see how he gets it dialled in over the course of the trip. I am sure he will.
