AnonymousI see I’m signed up for this apparently. I’m definitely keen but I need it this weekend. After the f#@!ing day I’ve had today I need it (Tracy can vouch for that). I need to go back to the thread on the things you hate and vent a little (it would be much easier if we could properly swear on the forum – am I able to do that in the members only section because it would be a ripper today?).
I know I can easily do 150kms in half a day so I reckon I can probably do 300 over a full day and this is only a little more than this but I’d be interested in seeing what sort of riding it involves i.e. is there a heap of single trail because that’s the stuff that wears me out.Without sounding too girly will you stop along the way for a break? You know I’m only thinking of DanD and his smoke break requirements.December 18, 2008 at 11:28 am #115383I will be in just let me know!

This one will be easier as we will have a support vehicle to carry the overnight gear, as last ride we had to carry our own.

AnonymousTiny – I thought you’d be there but waited until you confirmed
TB – You know I have my image to think about. I hope it’s not an old Hilux? Does it have 24″ rims? Nah, sounds good mate seeing as the numbers are going up quickly.
Crash – You’re probably right, might have some compnay with everyone knowing that a couple of people can bail early!
December 19, 2008 at 1:26 am #115520There will be a magazine along on this ride to do a story on the ride and on the whole Old Bull thing

December 19, 2008 at 8:06 am #115581With the distance that this ride will cover all bikes that attend the ride will need to be mechanically sound.
All riders will need to carry on them
1 x new Chain joining link
1 x Front tube, front tube can be used in the front or rear
1x Spark plug
Please check your bikes over and cover the basics as it affects everybody, we all know stuff happens and that’s trail riding but I just want avoid silly things cropping up.
Basics include
Tyres, chain, sprockets, wheel brgs, spokes, cable ends,There will plenty of guys there with tyre levers, pumps, nuts, bolts, wire, chain breakers, cable ties, plug spanners tape and bits and pieces so don’t stress if you don’t have those things, but bring them if you do and be self sufficient.
If you can pack a spare air filter with your chain lube and pack it in your bag and let the service vehicle take it, then if its dusty you can change it rather than clean it. (supercheap auto sell pre oiled for most bikes for $14.99 or there abouts)
One final thing can all bikes have heavy duty tubes fitted, ultra heavy duty are better but heavy duty will doCheers TB

AnonymousI might be interested.
What sort of average speed are we talking here. Is it mainly fire roads around 80kph ?
Is the route your taking already been ridden ?
Dual sport tyre choice do you think or normal knobby ?
I would need a date to be able to let you know if I can make it or not ?
Hopefully you can settle on one soon..And will my arse get itchy from the longer miles ?
December 20, 2008 at 3:31 am #115665Average moving speed will be in the 40kph range
90% of the route as been ridden but the whole thing will have been completed before the ride
I will be using knobbies
Date shortly
And yes your arse will be sore from riding your bike
If you are a single line gun and thats what you live for it may not be your sort of ride, plus you will have to share a room with someone
