Apparently there are new owners of the land at Crasers where we cross the creek when heading up towards Kurri. They are not moto friendly people and hae been erecting new fences to keep us out. Some people have been cutting the fences which has lead to police patrols of the area. Anyone heading through that way needs to be aware and you may have to divert out onto John Renshaw drive and cut back in at the BP at Stanford Methyr.

My neighbours have bought a block just behind the Gap servo at Freemans water hole He has fenced HIS LAND, but has put a massive fire break around his block,so you can actully go round and end up at the same spot as if you had just riden THROUGH HIS BLOCK but some people 4WDers and bikes, arn’t happpy with that, thay cut the fences all the time, instead of just going round, because I have riden through his block years ago and I didn’t even know, as usuall it is the miniority that F%^k it up for the MASSES, respect people and the opinions and their land, manners go long way to opening doors and gates, maybe approach is the go.

Went for a short ride today to test out the ankle. That went ok, bit of pain but should be good in a couple of weeks.

Rode down to Crasers. At least I rode down to the gate leading into Crasers from the Stanford Merthyr side. Big “private property” signs and warning signs from a security company as well as “no bikes” signs. Totally fenced of on the Sugarloaf side.

That’s Crasers finished. Been riding (motor and push bikes) and walking the dog down there for over 30 years.

Shame really but if you own the property then I suppose you have the right to fence it off.

suppose you would be pissed if they didnt respect your land yeah!

Its interesting that Chicken’s mate, put a fire break around his fence and people still cut the fence??

I’d be pissed if it was my land and people were cutting my fence (and costing me money in the process) especially if there was a viable way round.

Been checking around the area. A fence has been put up around the bushland on the outskirts of Standford Merthyr. The “Friends of Tumblebee”, of whom the Greens Cessnock councilor is a prominant member, have called it “Kurri Kurri swamp woodland protected area” and made it a “conservation zone”.

This is another area that a lot of people, including me, walk, run, cycle and exercise their dogs. It is also used by dirt bikers, licensed and unlicensed, to cut across to Crasers.

The fence has been up just a few days. On a walk with the dog today I came upon a spot that had been cut leaving a 10m gap in the fence. Just what do these clowns expect. People do not like being fenced out of public (crown) land. What a waste of money.

Erm if it’s privately owned, whether or not people used it prior, the owner has everyright to fence it.Anyone cutting fences in any circumstances other than an emergency should have their scrotums tensioned using the same wire!

Also, anyone riding unreg in that area should expect a present. (yes I know it’s the bush and I’m aware of all the arguments for riding unreg in the bush but tough sh1t, it’s the rules. Get it or risk getting pinged.)

I’d stop whining and get over it. When someone buys the land I ride on ‘ll find somewhere else. I WONT cut their fences ’cause I know what I’d do if I caught someone cutting mine;)

    well it’s their land.

just sucks that the old rail corridor between cessnock and lake mac is fenced.
and it sucks that you have to rub off a set of knobbies on 10 klm of tar to get around.

i rode past crasers a couple of weeks ago on the nx along Richmond vale road. I waved at the guys putting up the fence. They gave me a stare that nearly knocked me off by bike.

We came across 4 bogans on the Rd who looked very dejected, they had just been pinged by some rangers for unrego bikes and also camping illegally all up about $600 each in fines:blink: F#@k that! I will pay my $300 bucks a year rego and camp at the Pines if I have to.

This wasn’t meant to be a forum for debate on the pro’s and con’s of fence cutting, only some information for local riders. I have never cut a fence and don’t condone it, afetr all, as has already been said, it’s their land. As for riding unregistered, the problem is that you have no 3rd party personal injury insurance in the event of an accident involving someone else.

If you have to go around then go around, if your registered it’s no big deal and if you ride sensibly then tyre wear will be minimal.

What is camping illegally?I’ll have to look into it but I thought you could pretty much camp anywhere that wasn’t restricted by signs…and I’ve seen few no camping signs? Can you elaborate Ollie?

    agreed

my point was, normally corridors are left in public ownership.

oh well, we will keep riding around.
