September 4, 2014 at 8:08 am #104156Nick, my little 250 is suffering from an overweight rider trying to belt thru single trails. I don’t want to spend a fortune as the minister for war and finance is a bit touchy about the cost of my toy, so what basic mods could be made to the standard bike that would accommodate a 107kg rider plus gear without having to sell a child?
Cheers snowyPs cumon boys let the shut laying commence, the sites a bit politically correct atm September 4, 2014 at 8:16 am #259354just sell the hand-grenade and get a 450 easy fix  September 4, 2014 at 8:20 am #259358Put a 500 2 stroke in it  Ring a Ding Ding :woohoo: Ollie September 4, 2014 at 8:22 am #259355You could try lower gearing to give a bit more snap mate. Also make sure you are not running a big tyre on the rear as that will suck some power.
If 107kg is without gear then maybe skip a few parmies. That should liven her up.STM September 4, 2014 at 8:40 am #259361I’m with STM mate. Wack a big arse sprocket on the back. It’s not like you want to be cruising at higway speeds on it. September 4, 2014 at 8:49 am #259363Lose weight fat arse. September 4, 2014 at 8:53 am #259362I found the stage 2 cam gave a mid range boost and as I don’t ride that much open stuff the lower gearing as STM said is the go !!
I had wiseco race piston and gaskets etc but that’s costly !!Nick September 4, 2014 at 8:56 am #259360Ollie wrote:Put a 500 2 stroke in it :laugh:Ring a Ding Ding :woohoo: Ollie I second this highly wise comment. September 4, 2014 at 8:57 am #259365Pull all the unwanted weight out of it and give it a run daily then work with the poor bike. September 4, 2014 at 8:59 am #259366Talk to Deuy he has a 310 husky in the shed and your 250 might just suit his daughter better. September 4, 2014 at 9:01 am #259364Hi Snowy,
We talking engine or suspension here?
Suspension is where is start, just put a spring on the back of it. $155. Do the forks if you have another $155. Rear spring is an easy DIY. Forks are. Little harder, I’m sure you can find an OB who can help you.
Engine. The 250x is a great engine. The people who write them off have never owned one. I’m 115kg plus gear, Hobsy from ADB/Transmoto was 125kg when he owned one from 04-09. He still talks about it today as the best bike he’s ever owned. I had an 05 and still miss it. Better in the bush than my 10 YZ450.
I think they go ok stock. When the inlet valves start pulling through I put Kibblewhite valves in them, inlets only. You have to get the seats cut too. I can do it all, not expensive.
Run the stock header and muffler. They work very well despite looking and sounding ugly. Run an R muffler if you must change it. If you really have to have more power, stage 1 hotcam. More power everywhere.
Keep on top of the air filter.I’ll add this last line as a catch all. The above is my opinion. If you disagree with me, that’s ok, I don’t give a shit. I’m simply expressing my opinion and will not be entering into an argument. September 4, 2014 at 9:04 am #259367Geese!!!!! I meant suspension wise. I don’t want too go fast it’s too scary, September 4, 2014 at 9:09 am #259368Thanks Nick, I’m interested in the suspension as its quick enough now and I’m not ringing it’s neck. Do you suggest rear spring first or fronts first? I promise not too argue as I obviously know nothing gab out suspension. Teknik wrote:Hi Snowy,
