Snow, Im lead to believe its a political thing. Whenever a new government gets in we all get screwed… :huh:That’s why it called a federal erection……
MP stands for monetary prostitute doesn’t it? They whore themselves around to anyone that’ll vote for them…
As for the suspension thing, I’d suggest doing front and rear at the same time, I dunno if doing the rear first would upset handling? Nick will have a far greater knowledge of this.
September 5, 2014 at 7:16 am #259356Rear Spring off a D9 would suit you Snowy
Bol :woohoo:September 5, 2014 at 7:33 am #259370snowy09 wrote:Thanks Nick, I’m interested in the suspension as its quick enough now and I’m not ringing it’s neck. Do you suggest rear spring first or fronts first? I promise not too argue as I obviously know nothing gab out suspension.Go the rear spring first if your not going to both ends at the same time. Keeping the back wheel on the ground and stopping it bouncing all over the place goes a long way to keeping you pointed where you need to go.
When I put the heavier spring on my WR it made a huge difference (mind you at 125kg without my gear I was carrying a bit more weight than you). Generally it just felt like a nicer ride with less jarring but it was whe I hit the first decent step that I really noticed the difference. I braced myself for the usual jarring as the back wheel hit it but it never came. I still haven’t gotten around to getting the front done but I will once I am home long enough.I had my DRZ done front and rear a few years back and that made a huge difference. I went down a rocky hill on one of my first rides with it setup hoping I wouldn’t to go back up but the trail became a dead end. I was dreading going back up but I couldn’t believe how easily I did it, the suspension just soaked up everything end the bike tracked straight up it like it was nothing.
September 5, 2014 at 8:22 am #259379I agree with Jeffro. Rear spring first, then fork springs, then valving depending on your budget.
If you are worried about unbalancing the bike, don’t be. Adding a rear spring to it will only be positive, as will the other mods.
It’s unbalanced now with your fat arse on it. :blink:September 5, 2014 at 8:23 am #259380Get the right coil for the rear shock Snowy and set up your sag and you will be well on your way. I found the Showa forks to handle firmer compression settings so you can do that for your fork for the short term to sort the front. The valving in the CRF is way better than most in stock form so if you sort the spring rates you will have much better handling You may already understand the relationship between rebound and high/low speed compression but if not spend some time on Google. Get your clickers right and you have the best free upgrade available.

September 5, 2014 at 8:30 am #259384Ok so new rear tecknicks spring ordered (apparently Technicks have a special – your a fat shit spring), Matt from bikes and bits fitting it next week. on top of a front mouse, new rear tyre and superthick rear tube, that will do for todays spending.
Thanks for the advice boys except bollocks. STM, ill read up tommorow as the friday night beer goggles are making the computer difficult to read.
September 26, 2014 at 10:45 am #259385Bike back together tonight and this is now not a bike for short arses – at 186 cms I can get a leg over and sit with my toes on the ground but a short arse like Boony would fall over trying to reach terra firma. Will give it a quiet test out over the weekend to see how it feels as apart from new spring the shock has been serviced regassed and reoiled.
Due to the multiple flats last ride the front tyre was pretty sad so the new michy mousse has been teamed with a new michy front and a new michy rear containing a tube so thick it is classified as slick tyre. Durring the works I discovered the swing arm bearings were shafted so its now sporting a complete set of new bearings – just needs a new rider and it will go like shit!
